The Indianapolis area is filled with restaurants and cafés. Since the IUPUI campus is so close to the downtown area, students can walk from campus to most any dining establishment within 15 minutes. The closest cluster of restaurants is very close to campus, and most students, faculty, and staff find themselves there at lunchtime (instead of eating on campus). Au Bon Pain, Noodles and Company, Hotbox Pizza, Starbucks, Best Taste China Buffet, Taco Bell, and Quizno’s are just a few of the places that sit directly north of IUPUI’s campus. It is immediately obvious to most students that the variety and quality of food in this area is of a much higher caliber than the food that is available to them anywhere on campus.
In the evenings, students and locals like to go downtown for the various dining experiences offered, where one can discover a mix of chains and locally owned restaurants. There are also a few establishments that are perfect for dining parents and friends. Scholar’s Inn on Massachusetts Avenue is one of the nicer restaurants in town. The Red Eye Café is a 24-hour restaurant that serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. It is conveniently located near most of the bars downtown, so it gets pretty busy after 3 a.m. when the bars close.
