Since alcohol is classified as a drug, most students would agree that the drug scene at IUP is active and showing no signs of slowing at any time. You don't get the nickname "I Usually Party" for no good reason. Most students attend parties and try alcohol (even if they don't overdo it) at bars, house parties, and frats.
There is a strong movement toward educating students about using and abusing alcohol. Most students notice posters around campus citing surveys in which students report consuming four or fewer drinks at a party, but the important thing to note is that most students do in fact party. Of course, not everybody drinks, but students who decide not to sometimes feel like outsiders.
Besides alcohol, the more popular drugs among students are marijuana and prescription drugs. Depending on your group of friends, you may come in contact with it more than other students. If you want to, you can find just about any kind of drug, but students who aren't interested can certainly avoid the drug scene. Although drugs are definitely not unheard of, alcohol is much more popular among students.
