College Prowler Take
IU is a big school, where you can be as wild as you want to be. There are plenty of police around to make sure that nothing gets out of hand, but there are still occasions where students will drink underage or smoke pot. Alcohol is by far the most prominent drug at IU, and that’s the reason most students get in trouble. Drinking occurs even in the dorms, where the presence of liquor is strictly forbidden, along with some drug use, like marijuana. You’re more likely to get caught trying something in an on-campus environment than you are elsewhere. All in all, the drug scene on campus is easy to avoid. It seems to be the general consensus that there are drugs out there and that they are easily accessible—but perhaps no one is very interested. Those who wish to avoid any encounter with any drug may be lucky enough to do so. IU is a place where students care little about drug usage and almost never feel pressure to be involved.

In a college of 35,000 undergrads, drugs are an inevitable part of life. Here at IU, although it is not dominant, drugs are available if you look (as with most places in the world). Drinking is very big here.

I have not really bore personal witness to the drug scene at IU, but I have seen it briefly in passing. Here and there, students will be passing around a pipe filled with marijuana or a joint. It's not a recognizably large part of campus, though, and that helps to promote a positive environment.

IU is a party school, so drugs are there if you want them. If you don’t want to be around drugs, it isn’t a problem. |

This campus sports some of the best weed I’ve ever seen in Indiana. There are also mushrooms, but no acid. Ecstasy used to be big, but I think that everyone finally found out just how bad it was for them, and it hasn’t been around much. Adderall is huge, as it helps kids stay up all night and focus on whatever it is that they’re studying. Other chemicals are much less common (crack, speed, coke, and heroin), but can be found in Indianapolis. |

There are people who smoke pot, like at every other school, but it is definitely not a druggie campus. |
