Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

The signature limestone buildings on campus are constantly undergoing renovations that no one ever seems to witness. There is a covert team of custodians, gardeners, and maintenance personnel that keep everything beautiful. IU really does have everything. For the fitness junkie, there are state-of-the-art facilities; for the movie buff, there are foreign and rare movies screenings; for the food lover, there are gourmet meals served periodically in the elegant Tudor room in the IMU.

IU does a great job of finding ways to keep students entertained by and enamored with the college lifestyle. The campus is a close-knit community with so much to offer. If you are unable or unwilling to go off-campus, you don’t have to. You can mail bills at the on-campus post office, eat a gourmet lunch, watch movies and shows, get a fade or a haircut, play a game of pickup basketball, or work out without ever stepping foot off IU property. Although it might be somewhat monotonous to live for four years within a few square miles, the nearby facilities are what make IU a convenient, fun, and pleasant place to be.

The Spea/Business Library

Has awesome little cubbies in a silent workspace. They are a great place to really get work done.

Beautiful Campus and Town

IU is located in the beautiful city of Bloomington Indiana. Once you come to visit IU you'll see exactly why so many students choose to go here. Not only is campus beautiful no matter the weather, but Bloomington itself is a great town. No matter the weather you'll enjoy your picturesque walks to class and around town. If you're on the fence about attending this amazing school all you have to do is take a step on campus. The historical buildings, and all the beautiful trees (if IU cuts down one tree they must replant 2) and flowers. This campus will make any day brighter.

IU Facilities

Since I am in the school of music, I probably use the general university facilities less than the average student. The only library I use is the music library, but so far it has met every need I have. I like studying at the Union, especially since it has Starbucks! I love the whole atmosphere of the campus, especially that it is in right in the heart of Bloomington, but still has a campus feel, not just a city feel.

Facts

Favorite Things To Do

Between classes, you can shoot a game of pool in the Union, listen to live music, or look at a photography exhibit in the gallery. There’s always bowling if you’re looking for something a little more physical, and afterward, you can quench the thirst you worked up at one of the restaurants out the back door. Book a spring break trip at the travel agency, or an IU Outdoor Adventure. Nice weather? Take a stroll through the arboretum, or visit the solarium to do some sun spot watching. If you’re in the mood for something more academic, take a tour of the Lilly Library’s rare book collection

There’s usually a movie or two showing around campus, a popular option everywhere, but that’s just the beginning. Free concerts at the Musical Arts Center are appealing, as are the operas and ballets performed there. The IU Auditorium consistently brings in big-name acts along with shows such as Stomp, Rent, and Miss Saigon. The most popular place on campus for at least a few months out of the year is undeniably the Assembly Hall, where the men’s basketball team takes on its opponents.
