Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

To go Greek or not to go Greek? There are a couple of important things to consider: If you join a sorority or fraternity, you will have a place to live, be surrounded by people who share your interests, and be able to make a contribution to IU and the surrounding area through philanthropy. If you don’t . . . well, you can still do all those things, but you won’t be bound by any rules or expensive fees. In either case, there are definite pluses, and it really boils down to what is right for you. The atmosphere here doesn’t push one way or the other.

IU is different from some schools with a large Greek population because the Greeks here are not smothering in either their size or their prevalence. They do exist, and it is fairly obvious, but if you don’t want to think about them, you don’t have to. If you’re a freshman looking for an immediate portal into getting involved on IU’s campus, the Greek system, which has a good reputation and is well-developed, may be the way to go.

Greek Life Is Okay.

I was never a part of it so I don't think I can give a fair review. I knew some friends in it, and they had fun!

Making Campus Lively !

The greek life at Indiana Univeristy is very diverse. The Greek life that is specifically geared towards African Amercians especially is filled with diversity. Even though at times there can be a feeling of seperation between Greeks and "non-greeks", the greeks never completly leave any one party or person out. Being a greek is not everything Indinana University. Even so, all of the Greek life on campus brightens and makes the campus feel lively! They are always throwing different fun ideas out that can reach all kinds of people. The different events that they propose to the campus usually leaves one filling welcomed when they attend and like they have done something worth feeling accomlished. Despite the wonderful organizations of Greek Life on the campus, there is not much housing opportunity, especially housing for the African American and Multicultural Greek Organizations.

Go Greek

Best decision I made at IU. I rushed Fall, but decided to pledge in the Spring. I learned the "GDI" life is alright, but not as involved or fun as Greek life. It's a very close community and for guys there is a fraternity for every personality, so you can find the right one for you. A semester as a regular student compared to a semester as a Greek (while I was pledging) is uncomparable. Rush for sure, and you wont regret it.
