College Prowler Take

At IU, the guys come from all over the country, but there are a lot of Midwestern boys with Midwestern attitudes; the phrase “I grew up on a farm” is not exactly rare, and many of these boys adhere strongly to their principles, like family values and intense work ethic. Of course, Indiana boys are not all IU has to offer. We’ve got hot East Coast guys, cool West Coast guys, and every kind of guy in between. The reputation of certain programs, like the music school and the Kelley school of business, draw students from around the globe. Added bonus: no matter what background they come from, they’re mostly good-looking.

Girls at IU are of the same mold as the guys. They outnumber the men by a little bit, but come from the same range of places and have the same range of lifestyles. The women here can teach you how to throw a punch, crochet, or solve for x in an equation. Like the boys, they come in all shapes and sizes with their own set of morals and ideals. Also like the boys, girls are generally very, very attractive. Guys and girls both cover the spectrum from conservative to promiscuous, so you can find a casual fling easily—but the serious relationship is prominent. Just want to hook up? With 40,000 kids, you should be able to find a buddy.

Being such a large campus, IU...

Being such a large campus, IU features a vast variety of students, ranging from the attractive, near-unattainable females to the meat-headed, sex-obsessed male demographic. And then there are normal people (like me).

One of the great things about Indiana is its stock of pretty girls. That makes it definitely worth a visit even if you’re not going to go here. The sooner you get comfortable with who you are and what you want to do, the sooner you’re going to meet people who you’ll actually like spending time with.

There are a lot of hot guys here. Not necessarily the best personalities, but they’re hot. They are like your all-American ‘Abercrombie and Fitch model’ kinda guys, if you know what I mean. The girls are easy. Not all of them, but most of them.

There are more girls than guys,...

There are more girls than guys, but I’ve met my share of hot guys. It’s just like any big university—there are going to be attractive guys and not so attractive guys, nice guys and not so nice guys. There are just all sorts of different people, so I’m sure it won’t be that difficult to find guys that interest you.

Same as everywhere. Most of the people I have met here, girls and guys, are so nice, but then there are some who aren’t. Yes, the guys are hot, and as always there are some that aren’t, but that’s everywhere. We do have beautiful guys, so even if you are taken, you can always have some eye candy.

Facts

Birth Control Available?

Yes - It's available at the University Health Center or at Planned Parenthood.

Social Scene

For the most part, students at IU are extremely outgoing and friendly. There's the usual mix of shy people and introverts, but making friends is not too challenging for most people. House parties are popular, as is the bar scene, but there are plenty of other ways to meet people on or around campus; you just have to look for them.

Hookups or Relationships?

For the first year or so, many students are relishing their newfound freedoms and finding out who they really are, and hooking up is an inevitable part of this for some. With age comes maturity, though, and you'll find a number of serious relationships between older students. You can find whichever you're looking for; with such a large student population, there's a lot to choose from.

Best Places to Meet Guys/Girls

Clubs, bars, and house parties are great places to make a connection with someone, but if you're interested in finding a person who shares your interests, you may have better luck meeting people in organizations or through classes.

Dress Code

Most students at IU don't put a whole lot of effort into getting ready for class, and sweatpants and hoodies reign supreme, especially for those 8 a.m. lectures. Mostly, IU students go for casual and comfortable, rather than sleek and stylish. Don't be fooled by the sloppy pretense, though; many of those baggy sweatpants are designer. Outside of class, people tend to put a lot more time into their appearance. Girls wear more makeup and trendier clothes, and guys actually shave and use product in their hair if applicable. It wouldn't be completely out of the ordinary to see a hot babe out at the bars and realize hours later that she's also that mousy chick from your biology class.
