Cocaine

There is a huge coke problem here at IU. It's especially large in the frats but I have also seen use in the dorms. Many of my friends do cocaine every weekend, but I have never tried it and don't intend to. I love IU, not gonna lie, but the use of cocaine is excessive... Also drugs such as Xanax are fairly common on campus

GREAT DIVERSITY

Students from all walks of life are at IU. There is no discrimination in any facet of college life on this campus. Opportunity is available to all diversity and genders.

CAMPUS ACCESS

The Campus Access Card system is great! I can use it on and off campus. Makes it easier for students who don't have a debit card to use. It is an excellent alternative to my meal plan when I want something different.

SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE

Indiana University is AWESOME! The aesthetics are head and shoulders above others we have visited. Gym facilities are top notch. Class selection is very open and flexible for all students. We have the number one college basketball team in the nation for 2012 2013 season. GO IU HOOSIERS!!!!!!

Transportation

There are several taxi services in town. There are also bus stops located all through town and the buses go right to the campus.

Campus Dining

There are several places around campus to eat. It is very reasonably priced and easily accessible.

Great School

The network is reliable and computers are easily accessible.

Indiana University and Bloomington Are Both Amazing

The school has a gorgeous campus, wonderful, experienced professors, and so much to offer for everyone. The dining options are diverse, the town is active and lively, and, as a freshman, I feel very welcomed and at-home here. I look forward to the next few years of my life here. If I were required to choose a school again, I would most definitely choose IUB-it has all I wanted and more.

A Situation to Fit Every Personality

Because our campus is on the large side, there are three distinct neighborhoods to fit most personality types. Northwest is great for social butterflies and business students. Southeast is ideal for music majors and the creative type. Central is great for people who like to have a balance of partying and studying.

Girls Are Great

All the girls are very attractive and very diverse

Indiana University

First of all this campus is gorgeous, and its great for just walking around. IU boasts two athletic center, however one is currently undergoing construction. The SRSC (the open athletic facility) fulfills almost every need and has really good hours. The libraries here are absolutely fantastic, though sometimes finding what you need can be a challenge. It's super easy to get involved on campus, there are tons of clubs! Overall IU is excellent!

Northwest

Northwest or bust

Freshmen dorms are good only if you get Northwest. Close enough to classes and has a really communal feel

Hipsters

There are a lot of hipsters in Bloomington. Everyone seems to have their own style and own music tastes. There's the bros and the hoes just as much as there are the nerds and the religious folk. There is an attractive person everywhere you look.

Life as a Communication Major

I have really enjoyed being a Communications major because i have found that all my professors are extremely passionate about what they are teaching. They are very interested (and are often very accomplished) in their field and it makes you just as passionate in the subject. I also like how they have a very laid back yet informative approach to teaching. They really emphasize hands-on experience and real world exposure to help us learn, we are often taught through media, both new technologies (Youtube and new movies) as well as classic materials. I really like that I get a feel for the field I am in and how I have grown even more passionate about my major because it has been fulfilling. The reading can often be cumbersome and dry but the lectures and discussions are often very interesting, informative, and I learn the bulk of my knowledge from that, not through lectures but from our interactions with it. Overall, I really like the communications program at Indiana because they really help us get a feel for the field and really get us excited about it and give us experience working with it.

IUBB!

You'll not find a school with more pride than the Indiana Hoosiers. While our football team continues to be an embarrassment IU Basketball is back in full force. Students, alumni and residents of Bloomington are behind the team in full force and the spirit on campus right now is just amazing. We're all buzzing to finally be returning to our glory.

Total Balance

At Indiana University there is a balance between students who join sororities/fraternities and those who don't. I think this is great because even though a student is involved in Greek lifestyles they still have many friends outside that lifestyle. The interaction between Greek students and non-Greek students is also great because they can both experience each other's lifestyle if they hang out or invite each other to their own activities. In all the balance at IU is advantageous in many aspects.

Expect High Costs

It's not really hard to find an apartment. It's a good-sized city with lots of available housing. It's the cost of the housing that will get you. Even housing that's not what I would consider close to campus is really outrageous.

Too Much Greek

There's a lot of Greek life at IU, and it isn't received well by local populations, but the Greeks haven't yet noticed.

If You're Interested, Try It

I am a non-greek student but it's just not for me. A lot of students love that lifestyle. It's definitely worth trying if you have any interest at all, they are great for networking and they do a lot of philanthropic work.

As for how they are viewed by non greeks: they usually mind their own- I view them as pretty exclusive, they hang out with only themselves so they can be kind of snobby. And they are huge partiers, but that's normal.

Greek Life

There are many greek orgs. Many of them are awesome and some of them you just don't even want to associate with because they are so uppity. But other than that, Greeks rock

Very Liberal

No matter the religion, gender, race, ethnicity, or sexual orientation, you will fit right in at IU. You will not be judged for who you are at IU because the school is so very diverse. Also, there are programs, extra-curriculars, and majors for all walks of life so you are bound to find something to devote your time to other than books or watching TV.

The Campus

IU has one of the most spectacular and green campuses I have ever been to, and I have been in love with it since the first time I saw it.

Housing

Housing is pretty good here. I lived in Ashton with a single room and an air conditioner which was nice. The only thing that could've been better was the distance from my classes.

Couldn't Be Much Better

Being in the Kelley School of Business is a fantastic opportunity. Wide range of faculty with great experience, facilities in the process of being updated, high rankings in all majors. Career placement is a definite plus, with the UCSO being one of the best in the country.

Weather Is Not That Bad

The temperature does not really get below 0 in the winter, and compared to most of the Midwest, the snow is relatively low. The fall, summer, and spring are amazing!
