Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

CyRide is an award-winning transportation system. It serves not only Iowa State University, but also the city of Ames, so owning a car is not necessary. CyRide runs all over the city and stops at all the popular places in town. Buses come about every 20 minutes, so students and citizens of Ames don’t have to wait long. CyRide also offers the Moonlight Express, which is also known as the drunk bus, that students can call to take them out if they are too drunk to drive. CyRide is free for all Iowa State students. Some suggest that you bring a bicycle for further convenience, as CyRide does not run through the center of campus. If your classes are located on the interior, it is easiest to walk or bike between classes.

Some students would rather walk to class than wait for the bus, but in the winter when weather conditions are at their worst, the bus can be very inviting. The general bus services don’t run all night, though. If you plan to be out late, call the Moonlight Express. Students at Iowa State University have positive things to say about the first-rate busing system.

Cyride is the name of our transportation system and it's completely free for students. It is usually on time and Iowa State has even made an effort to make the bus lines more sustainable.
