In evaluating their overall experience at IC, students often look to what has happened beyond the classrooms. IC offers countless opportunities to learn outside of class, and the students who take advantage of those offers are generally more pleased with their education. Many students love IC because of its size. It's hard to walk anywhere on campus without bumping into someone you know. With its great location, IC offers much off campus as well. The most common complaints are how much it costs to attend IC and the bitterly cold winter months that students have to endure.
With many things in life, students' experiences with IC are simply what they make of them. If you sit in your dorm room for four years, you will be miserable. If you experience the life Ithaca has to offer outside of the four walls of your room, you most likely won't regret your decision to attend IC. The school's high retention rate proves this. IC offers a great mix of academics and everything else the college life should offer-friends, fun, and a time to learn and grow.
