Ithaca’s music, communications, and physical therapy programs have great reputations. With the exploratory major, students who haven’t decided on a major can take a variety of classes to try to gauge their interests. For those who want to design a major, Ithaca offers a planned studies option where the student works with an advisor to design a program of choice. IC also has numerous study abroad programs, and it has centers in London, LA, and DC. Professors practice in their field, do extensive research, or write books. All have office hours, and many utilize these to ask questions and get feedback. With the atmosphere of a small liberal arts college, Ithaca offers a world of possibilities. First-year seminar classes help turn high school seniors into college freshmen, and internships help students get experience in the working world. Through it all, the faculty and staff at IC is ready to assist their students. It is possible to become friends with professors while attending IC, and most students know at least one professor personally by the time that they graduate. Once you’re a student, the best thing to do is to have an upperclassman advise you on the classes to take. It’s a good chance that they have either taken the professor for class, or know someone that has.

Many of the classes are interesting, but as I am sure is the case everywhere, the quality of professor varies from one to another. |

I find my professors to be very accommodating. If they don’t have office hours that I am able to attend, I usually find that they are more than willing to meet outside of the posted hours. |

I have not come across one professor that I haven’t liked. Professors at Ithaca look for methods of teaching that make classes fun and interesting. They go far beyond what is required of them and what a textbook would teach. I look forward to every class for one reason or another. One word that stands out when it comes to professors and courses at Ithaca College is ‘creative.’ Each class is distinctly its own. Most of the courses that I have taken here focus on group projects, presentations, and writing, which are the key skills that most of us will need in our future careers. |

Professors are cordial, and Ithaca College’s size allows for close personal interaction and contact with teachers whenever necessary. |

Professors and classes are really...
Professors and classes are really hit and miss. I have had some professors who are absolutely amazing, and they made class so much fun while simultaneously teaching me more than I thought I could learn. On the other hand, I have had awful professors and teachers. My advice: avoid tenured professors! |
