Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

There’s no doubt that IC students partake in the use of illegal substances. There are even times when students go to class high or smoke pot in public places. This is not to say that all students are potheads or even close to it; if students don’t want to have any run-ins with drugs, it is totally possible to do so. If students want to find some place to get high or enjoy baked goods on a regular basis, that can happen, as well. IC is not a dry campus, meaning that students are permitted to have alcohol on campus if they are 21-and-up. The under-21 crowd does its fair share of drinking, too, but once again, if you don’t want to, you don’t have to touch a drop. Mainly, it’s up to the individual to decide what kind of lifestyle he or she wants to lead.

Although a number of students use illegal substances or drink before they turn 21, the scene isn’t so prevalent that it makes other students uncomfortable if they want to be drug-free. Many students start trying out drugs when they get to Ithaca College, and others remain drug-free. Health Center’s drug counseling program is available to help students if they need it, and Public Safety officers work to control any substance problems that arise on campus. It's also worth noting that while drug use and alcohol consumption are fairly consistent throughout the year, during the beginning and end of the semester, there is an increase in student usage.

There are some students who chose to be part of the drug scene but it's not too bad.

Drugs and Alcohol

A lot of students at Ithaca drink alcohol and smoke pot. If you aren't into that scene move to Hood Hall where it is not aloud.
