After a student died in a fraternity-related hazing incident in 1980, the College banned all fraternities and sororities. Fortunately, with all of the active organizations and student activities on Ithaca College's campus, many forget about the lack of Greek life. It is usually a breath of fresh air for most students.

While some “underground” Greek life occurs on campus, the College refuses to recognize any of these social groups. If students are interested in occasionally partaking in Greek festivities, they have the option of participating in Cornell University's Greek scene, which is very active. Sometimes Cornell's fraternities and sororities will come to IC to advertise for pledges, but it doesn't happen too often.

AEPi - Iota Eta Just Started, Cornell as Alternative

AEPi (Alpha Epsilon Pi) just started an, un-affiliated, fraternity colony on the South Hill of Ithaca. They had a Social Event at Oasis recently and plan on getting a house, where I assume they'll throw down a lot. I look forward to their expansion and growth as an unafilliated Ithaca College frat.

The alternative is go join a Cornell Frat / Sorority. They welcome Ithaca College kids but they sometimes can be rough.

If your a girl looking for a frat party head to Cornell. They love IC girls cause we're prettier and more fun.

If you're a guy.. get a pong table for your room cause you're SOL.
