Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

After graduating high school, students are eager to go to college and hope to meet new friends and develop a romantic relationship. Many of these girls are disappointed when they come to find out that they outnumber boys and that the guys that do exist are either gay or in a relationship. With that being said, there are still opportunities to meet some cute and intelligent Ithaca College guys. Random hookups at house parties are prevalent, but there are definitely opportunities to develop a more intimate relationship. Many are attracted to Ithaca College because of the openness of sexual orientation, and students enjoy this atmosphere when they arrive. 

One saying heard around campus is, “Ithaca to bed, Cornell to wed.” Many feel that while some Cornell students have more brains, the students at Ithaca have the upper hand when it comes to looks. While each guy and girl at IC doesn’t take your breath away (and sometimes it’s hard to get a good look at people through all of the winter clothes), there are definitely those who make you want to stop and stare. It's an added bonus that Cornell is so close because it gives Ithaca College students the opportunity to socialize with both Ithaca and Cornell students.

In general, the entire campus is in good shape-- blame it on the fact that we're walking up and down stairs and hills all day. There are a lot of really, really gorgeous girls here by most people's standards: boho/ indie/ glamorous/ stylish/ natural/ all walks of life, and they dress stylishly for going to classes. It can be intimidating as a girl, since it sometimes feels like a standard to try to live up to. The guys are usually pretty attractive as well; there are a lot of jocks, "lax bros", and on the opposite end, indie/ alt guys. The hookup culture is a big thing in lower years, but there are also plenty of kids who start serious relationships, or stay in long-distance relationships. Overall, there's quite a mix, though students are largely white, upper-middle class, and well-dressed. Unfortunately, everyone is hidden under layers of jackets and scarves for half the year.

Well about those IC girls.......

The girls here you could say are varied. Some of them are backstabbing two faced liars. Others are just plain dumb and clueless. Some of them lets say just like more than one present during a certain "event".

As for appearances, well, there are all kinds. There are the fat f***s, the ones with too much make-up, the smoking hot s***s, and everything in between. The "dimes" are all taken, so don't even bother. The pennies are still available, and are yours for the picking at a certain event called Cortaca.

If you're a perspective freshman, then don't expect your first hook ups to end clean. Eventually you'll get used to it. Most hot girls come in with boyfriends and don't break up with them until maybe late in freshman or sophomore year.

Although they are many girls here who are dating material- even wife material, don't expect to find the love of your life here.

Bottom line: Expect the unexpected.

Girls and Guys at Ithaca

The girls are kind of stuck up and drama prone. They tend to be judgmental as well as the guys at the school. The football players are treated like gods at the school. I tend to stay away from that scene. Other than that there are some good people at ithaca that i don't mind

Social Scene

Like anywhere, IC has many different varieties of people. From the extreme introvert to the life-of-every-party guy, any kind of person can be seen on campus. Most students are rather outgoing, and with only about 6,000 students, it's hard to go anywhere without running into someone you know. On the weekends, students do anything from watch movies, shop, ice skate, play a game of football, or hang out in a bar or club. Sometimes, instead of getting dressed up, going out, and getting drunk, nothing is more fun than a movie night with some of your closest friends.

Hookups or Relationships?

There are both hookups and relationships at IC. On Monday mornings, you can hear people talking about their weekend one-night stands, and then you'll see two seniors holding hands who've been together since freshman year. It seems that there are two extremes on campus: random hookups and serious dating. There's not a lot of casual dating, but most long-term relationships happen with someone who's not an IC student. Most students who are engaged or thinking about getting engaged are dating someone from home or from another school.

Best Places to Meet Guys/Girls

While some couples meet at parties, clubs, or bars, a lot meet through mutual friends, when living in the same residence hall, or while participating in something they are both interested in, like a club or an organization. Through group projects and assignments or just normal discussion in class, many phone numbers and AOL Instant Messenger screennames are exchanged. Many students have found that the relationships that last the longest are the ones that start with a common interest, rather than a random conversation at a bar.

Dress Code

From pajama pants and sweats to skirts and khakis, anything is acceptable in class. The earlier or later the class, the more comfortable the clothing gets. At Ithaca, there are the typical Abercrombie & Fitch and Gap guys and girls, and then there are the people who choose to wear only black. Unless someone wears something totally outrageous, most people don't even give that student a second look. One piece of clothing that has a place in everyone's closet: an IC hooded sweatshirt.
