College Prowler Take
If Cornell and IC students have one thing in common, they both know how to have a good time. Living in a college town has definite perks. Bars and taverns line the streets, and students find parties to attend very easily. Since walking back up the hill can be hard when someone had too much to drink, most don’t walk to bars, they either take the bus or have a designated driver. The clubs have a variety of themed music nights and attract talented local bands. While there are parties on campus, students tend to go off campus to find a place to party. House parties are an every-weekend occurrence, and frat parties at Cornell are popular with the under-21 crowd. In their first few weeks on campus, many freshmen are eager to experience “college life” and head to Cornell to get drunk. The beer is cheap and the opposite sex is eager, but many outgrow the phase and find other places to go. While on some nights the under-21 crowd isn’t permitted in clubs, college freshmen and sophomores can find an abundance of places to go. Many carry fake IDs to drink at bars or get into shows, but it’s not recommended. For those of legal age, bars like Micawber’s and Benchwarmers know what students want and offer plenty of specials to keep the students coming back happy. If you’re looking for a good time, you’re guaranteed to find it at IC.

Parties on campus are lame, but I don’t really like parties anyway. |

One of the only problems I see with the nightlife is that there aren’t really any bars within walking distance of the College. You could walk to the Commons if you wanted to, but walking back up the hill is horrible. A lot of places are over 21, but some are 18 and over if you don’t want to drink. |

There is no shortage of things to do in Ithaca at night or on the weekends. (It’s great to be in a college town.) There are lots of bars and cafés, both on the Commons and in Collegetown. There are also a few dance clubs, although there are fewer now than when I first came to college. ‘80s night at the Haunt on Saturdays is always popular. There are always several places where you can go to see live music, usually local bands. |

There seems to be a party every weekend on this campus. Some of the streets out the back entrance of campus are totally populated by students, so house parties are common. |

It’s hit or miss for parties on campus. I can only recommend Micawber’s as a good bar. |
