College Prowler Take

Feel like a hamburger? Chinese? Thai? Pizza? Vegetarian? Whatever a person’s tastes, Ithaca has it covered. With countless options, at times, making a choice can be difficult. For a quick bite, Route 13 offers just about every fast food chain around, and the Commons, Collegetown, and downtown areas offer sandwich shops and delis, cafés, fine dining, bars, and plenty of take-out and delivery. Try Taste of Thai, the Lost Dog, and Stella’s. For all of those dates with that special someone, Ithaca offers many options to make the night perfect. The Boatyard Grill, located next to the lake, offers surf and turf. The world-famous Moosewood Restaurant calls Ithaca home, and with its delicious vegetarian specialties, even a steak-lover will find something tasty.

Living in the city with so many restaurants per capita definitely has its perks. It’s nice to escape campus food and discover some of the tastes that make Ithaca unique. Grab some friends and head to the Commons or Collegetown, and you’re met with a wealth of dining pleasures. When you’re in the mood for a study break at 2 a.m., don’t hesitate to order a pizza or calzone, because most places deliver at least that late. Most restaurants that deliver advertise extensively. Between seeing fliers thrown under your door and using www.campusfood.com, ordering a bite at any time is no problem.

There are many restaurants off campus, both in The Commons on State Street as well as in Collegetown over at Cornell University. There is a large range from Greek, Italian, Thai, Indian, Korean, and many sandwich shops. None of these are within walking distance. Some good spots are Sticky Rice, Taste of Thai, Aladdins, Diamonds, and Sammy's.
