Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Feel like a hamburger? Chinese? Thai? Pizza? Vegetarian? Healthy Mexican? Whatever a person is in the mood for, Ithaca usually will have it covered. With countless options, at times, making a choice can be difficult. For a quick bite, Route 13 offers just about every fast food chain around, and the Commons, Collegetown, and downtown areas offer sandwich shops and delis, cafés, fine dining, bars, and plenty of takeout and delivery. Try Taste of Thai and Stella’s. For all of those dates with that special someone, Ithaca offers many options to make the night perfect. The Boatyard Grill, located next to the lake, offers surf and turf. For IC students, taking the bus (TCAT or Tompkins Consolidated Area Transit) down to the Commons is popular because it is about a 10-minute bus ride and students have their choice of all the local food options.

Living in the city with so many restaurants per capita definitely has its perks. It’s nice to escape campus food and discover some of the tastes that make Ithaca unique. Grab some friends and head to the Commons or Collegetown, and you’re met with a wealth of dining pleasures. When you’re in the mood for a study break at 2 a.m., don’t hesitate to order a pizza or calzone because most places deliver at least that late. Most restaurants that deliver advertise extensively, too. Many restaurants will put fliers and menus under students' dorm rooms, but one of the most valuable resources for off-campus dining is campusfood.com. Students can sign up for free and search all of the local restaurants that participate in this virtual food court. Students can search, order, and pay for their food right on the site and have it delivered to their dorm—talk about awesome!

Campusfood.Com Is a Lifesaver

Ithaca offer services from campusfood.com, which lets you order from off-campus restaurants and have the food delivered right your dorm without ever having to pick up the phone. It's truly a lifesaver. Restaurants in the Commons are also convenient and delicious when you need a break from dining hall food.

Could Be Better

There are plenty of options to choose from for off-campus dining, however, extending closing hours should be highly considered. Most close as early as 11 which does not flow with the schedule of a busy college student. The cost of a meal at certain restaurants is relatively pricey, especially at those that cater to thai and chinese food.

Off Campus Dining

Food in Ithaca is delicious!! My friends and I always reminisce how great viva, shortstop deli, boatyard grille, Simeon's were.. pretty much anywhere you go for food downtown is AMAZING and affordable (especially when parent's are in town.)
