Parking Permits
Within the first week of classes, or whenever you bring your vehicle to campus, go to the Public Safety building located on the north end of campus and fill out the necessary paperwork. For the first few days of classes, be prepared for a long line.
College Prowler Take
It’s sometimes nearly impossible to find a parking place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on campus, and when one is found, it’s usually a bit of a walk to class. When the snow is plowed, the piles of it take away even more of the available parking spots. In an effort to keep freshmen from bringing cars to campus, the first-year students must pay $200 for a parking permit, double what the upperclassmen pay. IC students are somewhat lucky, because many schools won’t allow freshmen to have cars on campus at all, but all freshmen are required to park in designated lots. The freshman lots are very inconvenient for those first-year students who live in the Towers or Terraces, because the lots are on the other side of campus. If you park in a lot you’re not supposed to, you’re almost guaranteed to have a ticket awaiting you underneath your windshield wiper when you get back to your car. After 3 p.m. on weekdays, it’s easy to find parking spaces, but that doesn’t help the students who live off campus and start their day at 1 p.m. The parking situation could be worse, but it’s manageable. When you have to be someplace at a certain time, just make sure to allot time to find a place to park.

It is very convenient having a car on campus, but parking services are very difficult to deal with, and the rules and regulations are ridiculous. Aside from that, there are few parking spots on campus, and both lots designated for freshmen only are on the outskirts of campus. Also, $200 is a lot of money for a parking permit, and if you add that to the $20 each you have to pay every time you get a parking ticket, it gets expensive. |

Parking can be a hassle. Winter just worsens it with all the snow, making it difficult to pull into and out of spots and sometimes reducing the number of parking places. Often you’ll end up parking in a gravel parking lot. |

Parking is not easy to find, and it’s expensive. You need to pay to have your car on campus, and it’s not cheap. |

The parking here is way too small. IC underestimates the amount of people that bring cars. Also, the parking space available for each class is ridiculous. It’s insane that freshmen have to park in the Emerson lots, especially if most of them live in the Upper Quads. |
Did You Know?Best Places to Find a Parking Spot The lot next to Emerson Hall and the lot across from Route 96B usually have a place to park at any time of the day. Good Luck Getting a Parking Spot Here! In front of the Communications School in the afternoon.
