How to Get to the Airport
- Airline Limousine picks students up on campus. Call (607) 273-3030 for information. It costs $12 to the Ithaca Airport, and $50 to get to the Syracuse Airport. Other airports have similar services. Call those airports for details. A cab ride to the Ithaca Airport costs $10 - $15.
College Prowler Take
To discourage students from bringing cars to campus, officials tell students they can get everywhere they need to go on the Tompkins Consolidated Area Transit (TCAT) buses. That part is true—if someone has hours to get someplace that would normally take 20 minutes, roundtrip. Buses service the College, but for the most part, they only stop at one place on the Commons. Then, if the riders need to get to another place, after receiving a transfer ticket, they have to wait for the next bus to come. The process can take hours and usually inconveniences anyone who chooses to ride the bus. But, if you just plan on visiting the Commons, or plan your trip very carefully and allow for the extra time, taking the TCAT works fine. The College offers discount bus passes to students, but it’s usually not worth it unless you plan on taking the bus often. If you need to get someplace, find a friend with a car. Although rush hour or weekend traffic downtown and on Route 13 can get horrendous, traveling in an automobile will save you time and an even bigger headache. If students want to fly home or take the bus, the surrounding areas have enough options, but since most of the airports are smaller, ticket prices are generally more expensive than they would be at a larger airport.

It’s a pain in the butt sometimes. To get to the mall by bus it can take up to an hour, though the mall is like 15 minutes away. And this year, they’ve reduced the busing schedule, so it’s probably worse. Taxis aren’t too bad. |

I got really annoyed with it last year. It exists, and it’s an experience, but I found myself really confused and waiting a long time sometimes. I guess if you can figure it out, then it works, but you have to do your homework. |

I have taken the bus once in one-and-a-half years, and it was only one way. Does that tell you something? |

The bus into town runs every 30 minutes during the day, and every hour at night. To get to and from the mall or the grocery store, however, it takes at least three hours, due to transfers and such. |

The bus service isn’t that bad if all you want to do is go downtown, but for going to the mall or food shopping, it’s inconvenient. |
