Overall ExperienceWhat's This?

The first time you wander around campus at Jacksonville State University and feel the sun shining through the trees, you will begin to understand what it means to be a JSU Gamecock. It is a mix of old Southern charm and a wide new world of possibilities. It is a new world of wearing the game day crimson and cheering with your fellow students in the student section at football games and feeling the stadium vibrate with the sound of The Marching Southeners. It is walking through the Quad and staring up at the stone buildings and realizing that this place is more than bricks and stone. It is making friends that last and maybe even finding love.

It is about realizing who you are, who you want to be, and how to get there. It is a journey, not a destination. It is sitting down on the grass with a textbook for the first time in your life and studying, not to please someone else, but because you have realized that you want greatness, you want to be the best you can be for you. Your professors are interested in you. They won't pass you unless you deserve it, but they are there to help you succeed. For the faculty and staff, from the president to cashiers and custodians, friendliness is a mainstay. They always have a smile for students. You will be accepted for you. This place has deep roots and a wide open sky, tradition and possibilities. You write your story, and JSU is a great place to start.
