Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

The off-campus setting in Harrisonburg gives students a little vacation from the fascinating fresco of on-campus feasting. The ‘Burg’ has its share of chain restaurants, like Chili’s, Outback Steakhouse, Applebee’s, and so forth, but many students tend to frequent and praise local dives more often. Students agree that each restaurant has its own charms; for example, wing night at BW3’s or grilled sandwiches at the Daily Grind. For those who crave sugar like a hyperactive toddler, Kline’s Daily Bar presents a tempting array of ice cream cones and combinations.

On the flip side, off-campus dining can run up your tab and cut down your bank balance. On campus, you need only to walk, and tips are not included—unless, of course, you wish to bravely show your appreciation for the D-Hall meatloaf. Off-campus dining takes more planning than a quick run through the dorm to see who is hungry and doesn’t mind walking across the street to PC Dukes. But once you arrive at your off-campus destination, life is a piece of peanut butter pie, whether you dip into a chain like Applebee’s or call in for free delivery from China Express.

Off-Campus Dining

Harrisonburg is a pretty small town, but right off campus there is a an area with a lot of restaurants. Some actually accept money off of our dining card (only money called FLEX, which you personally have to put money on yourself). We have really good Mexican places and we also have some big named chain restaurants (o'Charleys, Ruby Tuesday, Red Lobster, etc.) Some places are even in walking distance from campus which is convenient for students without cars.

Diverse

The food in Harrisonburg is pretty diverse. There is Thai, Indian, Ethiopian, and other small restaurants. It is hard to get out to the town without a car, though.

Off Campus Dining

I don't eat a lot off campus, but the Wooden Grill is amazing and it is all you can eat. They dont offer student discount but the price is worth it. GO TO EAT!
