Facts

Interviews & Information Sessions

During the fall and winter, the Office of Admissions offers group information sessions and student-guided tours Monday through Friday and, occasionally, on Saturdays. In July, the same schedule applies. In August, informational sessions are available along with a booklet to help you take a self-guided tour. For more information or to view the current visitation schedule, check out www.jmu.edu/admissions/visit. If you were psyched for an interview, you may want to de-psych, because JMU does not offer them. In place of an interview, JMU requires a personal statement in the application. It’s a sort of interview on paper.

Campus Tours

Contact Admissions at least two weeks prior to your visit, as visitation schedules are prone to change. The easiest way to schedule a visit is to fill out a reservation form electronically at www.jmu.edu/admissions/visit/reservation.shtml. Once you have submitted the form, you will receive automatic electronic confirmation that will include directions and local lodging information. However, if you are bringing a group of eight or more people, please contact the visitation center at (540) 568-5681.
