I got a good amount of financial aid but I needed a little bit more and I told the school I needed a little bit more and they awarded me just enough.

A lot of them came from private, Catholic high schools while I came from a public high school. It's different.

I love what my school has to offer in regards to internships and job opportunities. The core classes are my favorite to take. This school does a great job landing students internships which opens the door to a real job after graduation. Additionally, the location of being in the Cleveland area provides a number of opportunities that allows a student to pursue and succeed in finding a job with something they love. Not to mention, the immersion trips and study abroad trips are amazing here, and John Carroll basically does most of the tedious work for you like making travel arrangements, etc. Don't miss out on one of these endeavors, you'll regret it!
However, I do not like my major. I intended on majoring in Biology with the impression that the courses would be more medical related since the medical field is what I want to go into. The bio courses pertain to more ecological and environmental studies, frogs, and plants. If you intend on being a bio major with the hopes of going to medical school, you might want to reconsider and either major in biochem or go to another school. I don't feel prepared due to the limited amount of medically relevant courses here.
However, business majors you will find such a reward going to JCU. John Carroll business courses are tough, but once you graduate, you will realize everything else is much more manageable in the workplace. This being said, business students are prepared well for the real world.

The parking at night is better when there are more commuters and people living off campus. This however makes it more difficult to find parking spots by the class buildings. When second semester comes around, forget trying to find a parking spot after 10:00pm during the week because there won't be one. Freshman and Sophomores have to take a shuttle to get to their parking lot. Juniors and seniors have to fight for their parking spots on campus.

No. Parties get busted in approximately 57 minutes. The "fun" parties are the ones where there is a DJ (aka an 8 yr senior with GarageBand) and there are 434 kids shoved into the basement like livestock. No free booze anywhere. Every party is BYOB. No close bars. The pub is fun, but a ride is necessary.
Please rethink your decision to come to JCU if a fun nightlife is important to you.

It's Ohio weather: it's always crazy and it gets chilly up here!

All of the professors have the highest degree in their field, and they all want to help you succeed and seem like they genuinely care about the school. However, so far I feel like I have been somewhat unchallenged as far as academic rigor goes, and the other students don't seem to care as much about academics as I do or as I'm used to.

The staff is very friendly and take good care of the cafeteria, but the food just isn't very good. There isn't much variety, and the quality just isn't very high. Pizza, hamburgers, grilled chicken, and french fries are offered almost everyday and rarely substituted with another option.

there are usually activities every weekend and the school provides transportation.

Freshman dorms could use remodeling...which is happening this year. Room sizes are reasonable.

Transportation is good at JCU. Some students have cars. They arent really needed but are nice to have. There is available parking for everyone. It is really cheap compared to other schools. There is also a shuttle that loops around all the hot spots around school
College Junior 2013-08-23T13:42:25Z
JCU HAS THE BEST PART OF TOWN AROUND IT HANDS DOWN! There are so many restaurants and hang out spots within walking distance. Legacy and Beachwood mall are right down the road. It is safe and everyone loves going to hang out at those places any day of the week!

Athletics are huge at JCU. Many students are athletes. The fans are even better though. All of the sports teams go to one another games and cheer them on on the side lines! It is awesome to see. Facilities are really nice as well. There is still a huge amount that aren't involved in playing a sport, but everyone is a Blue Streak by heart! We all support each other.
College Junior 2013-08-23T13:34:28Z
Student life is awesome at JCU. I am not lying when I say everyone is one huge family. I feel at home when I am on campus. The student body and faculty is simply amazing in every way possible. Athletic centers are nice and easy to get to. Library is nice and big and easy to walk to no matter what time of the day it is. Grass everywhere, people are always studying in the quads!
