College Prowler Take

The consensus among students is that you can find drugs on campus if you want them, but they are not overwhelmingly present. Alcohol is the top drug used on campus, followed by pot. Students also use caffeine pills and other drugs that help them stay awake. In this case, students use these drugs not to escape the world but because they need to study. The best aspect of the drug scene at Hopkins, however, is that there is no pressure to use drugs at Hopkins. Students are understanding about letting other students make their own choices about drug and alcohol use (and abuse).

Drug use at Hopkins is a matter of choice. It is very uncommon to hear about anyone allowing their drug or alcohol use to interfere with their studies. When people choose to use drugs, it is usually on the weekends as a chance to relax. Even where drugs are used, they are not a visible presence on campus because there isn’t pressure from others to use.

The drug scene is pretty bad. Most people just smoke, but some sororities are known for using cocaine. Also, since JHU is so academically competitive, a lot of people take Adderall.

The drug scene is as integral a part of campus and campus life here as it is at any school. A lot of kids do them, and a lot of kids end up trying them eventually. There's more drug use in the off-campus housing, I think.

Since Johns Hopkins University is in Baltimore, it would be naive to pretend that there isn't a drug scene on campus. However, most JHU students don't do drugs. Students here are very school-oriented, and getting involved with drugs is the last thing that they would do. Some students definitely smoke, but, besides that, there aren't any other dangerous drugs being used.
