Advice

  • The Career Center offers many services to students, but students commonly complain that career counselors are only interested in helping students who know which field they want to enter; have an idea of what you are interested in before meeting with a counselor. Because Hopkins has so many successful alumni, don’t forget that networking with them is a great way to get an internship or job. Go to the Career Center first semester to beat the crowd when trying to find out about summer internships. Use HopkinsNET to network with alumni about a summer internship. (In order to intern for credit, you must make no more than a minimal stipend from the position.) Although Career Fairs are held on the Recreation Center basketball courts, don’t forget to wear business attire, and bring many copies of your resumé.
