should be more motivation or prizes for attending events.

I am a psychology major. I absolutely love my classes. Some of my classes and teachers really challenged me.

I had no issues with financial aid up until my final year which is this year. I have always received enough, but this year I came short.

I have no grade for the weather. I am an EDP student and do mostly online classes and the classes I have taken on ground we all over the state.

There are a couple of computer labs, but they're really not that great in all honesty. There is only one 24 hour lab, and the school charges you to print.

Johnson has some popular sports, such as rugby and soccer, and some people get together for those games.

There are many unique clubs on campus that are easy to join. There is an environment club that does a lot of interesting activities to help green the campus. The creative audiences are interesting because they get students out of their rooms and let them experience the fun that local authors, musicians, etc. have to offer.

The printers in the computer labs do a poor job. they sometimes print multiple copies of your paper, or they don't print at all. The computers have been going through updates since I've been on campus, but they seem to be high quality and fairly speedy.

Health & Safety:
I feel as though the Public Safety officers on campus are available for help when you need them, however you really seem to need to track them down. I haven't seen them cruising campus that often.

There are very few restaurants in Johnson - wicked wings, hot tamale, wok and house, and the hub. All are pretty dang awesome.

Guys & Girls:
There is a huge population of hippies, skaters, snowboarders and skiiers. So if you are into that then congratulations - Johnson will be a dating mecca for you! Hope you like beards!

Due to the climate of northern Vermont, living in the dorms during the winter months gives some people terrible cabin fever and there is a lot of crazy partying in some of the dorm buildings. There is however a designated dorm building that is substance free. The cost of living in the dorms is also somewhat expensive but not compared to some other colleges.

Johnson State College doesn't have any well known population of Greeks that I am aware of.

Pros- Feel independent and have your own private space
Cons- Expensive unless you spend all your free time working, availability is random, more complicated, would need car as well
College Sophomore 2012-12-20T04:01:09Z
I would grade Johnson State as a C- because there are not enough computers available with printing access, but the internet speed isn't terrible.

Love it here. The Wellness and Alternative Medicine is a revolutionary field in its own, not to mention it's pre-docterite.
Seems like city people get bored, some spoiled with entertainment everywhere they go and food filled with taste, but some look beyond the horizon. There are things to do here as long as you are outdoorsy. Expect to reconnect with Nature. This is a place of serenity and solitude for an optimal educational experience.
Food here may be bland and some get old, but there is always a variety, its local, and its healthy.
Wander well into the life of Bliss.

It's a small school so there isn't an abundance of majors or tons of funding, but there are committed professors that work closely with their students and genuinely care about their success. The general education requirements are well developed to ensure that everyone explores a variety of subjects and transitioning between majors or adding on a minor is relatively simple.
College Sophomore 2012-11-27T18:22:41Z
There's a solid community. When you are walking to class chances are you will see someone you know since it's a small campus. Everyone is generally friendly and inviting. There isn't much hype about sports or many restaurants/stores, it isn't what most people think of as a typical college atmosphere. But if you're looking for a small-town college and love the outdoors, this is the place to be

Haha very little to choose from, this is Johnson VT... But at the restaurants that do exist, the food is actually pretty dank. The Hub makes a mean pizza and Wicked Wings lets you customize the flavor and heat of your wings which is sweet.

Health & Safety:
Johnson is one of the safest places I've ever been. Public Safety is very good at their job, but they never have to deal with much. I haven't heard of any crime since I've been here and definitely have never felt personally threatened.
College Junior 2012-10-24T14:10:42Z
It's ok, but lot of partying and drinking and drugs going on.

I enjoy being an education major. It is fulfilling and exciting and opens doors to many challenging and exciting things to do. The teachers are great. The workload is not easy, but doable as long as you do your homework and really focus on school.
College Junior 2012-10-24T14:02:56Z
The process for getting into Johnson is good. I didn't have really much difficulty. The only thing I didn't realize is that you have to have a focus in something if you are an education major.
College Junior 2012-10-24T14:01:39Z
It's good. Although you do need to be careful to park only in the places you can and to have your pass with you in your car.

Love Johnson State College. For the career goals I am going for to be an Early Childhood Education Teacher, Johnson has a great program. I would go to Johnson again in a heartbeat.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
