Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

In general, if you’re being stupid, you’ll get caught, and if you aren’t, you won’t. Security’s always around campus, but they’re more a reassurance than a policing force. However, if they’re needed to intervene, they will. The officers are friendly, and they watch out for students; as a result, students usually feel safe but not imposed upon.

The unspoken rule is easy: be safe, be happy. Parking violations and noise disturbances are what students most often get cited for on campus. Students drinking underage may get caught if being loud or obvious, but if their approach is safe and smart, they’re usually not discovered. If you get caught with alcohol you’ll be written up, given a warning, and possibly be subject to formal review if it’s a recurring theme in your life. If you get caught with drugs, you could be expelled. Parties off campus are much more likely to be broken up than parties on campus. Security is only called when it’s absolutely necessary, and it’s usually not. Downtown is a slightly different story. Huntingdon police are watching out for your personal safety, too, but they’re also watching out for potentially cranky neighbors who are being kept awake by a student’s good time. Overall, everyone’s pretty reasonable, so strictness isn’t a problem. There’s not much style-cramping at Juniata, unless students are potentially going to do harm to themselves or someone else.

Strict yet Leniant at times

Though Juniata has a policy of kicking students out for "pinching, punching, or stealing"...many students just get warnings. Many students will meet with the Dean over their academic years since it's a small campus.

Easy.

Campus authorities are very laid back unless you get in a fight, get caught with guns or drugs, or commit sexual assaults. As long as you don't get into those things, campus strictness is very loose. I still feel safe, but still can feel free in my decisions. You are treated as an adult here.

Not That Strict

Juniata is a great campus, it is not really that strict. The only rule you HAVE to be sure to follow is to not carry around open containers around campus on the weekends.
