Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

There are only so many ways to say that there’s just no mass transit in town. The sheer lack of public transportation can be a pain, but the fact that most students have cars or friends who do helps a great deal. It’s also true that if you don’t have a car, are looking to save on gas, or just want to take your time and enjoy the day, the center of town really is just a short stroll away. It’s small consolation for the claustrophobic or someone who really needs to get somewhere and is without means to do so, but if that’s the case there’s usually a solution if you look hard enough or get creative. And luckily, campus is so small it’d just be ridiculous to do anything but walk or ride a bike.

If you’re looking to leave town, there is both a car rental agency and an Amtrak station in Huntingdon. The trains tend to run late and be slightly unpredictable, but students have made use of both places and gotten to their destinations. On top of that, the College has started a weekend van service to Penn State to allow students the chance to get away for an evening. Also, at the end of the semester, shuttles run to the State College airport for students who need a lift. But in the end, the fact remains—public transportation just isn’t really here. Students make the best of it, but the word to the wise is this: bring your car and make some friends, or your boots best be made for walkin’.

Not Much Available

There are not many transportation options at Juniata. It is a very small town though so transportation is not necessary. There are shuttles that run on holidays and breaks that take students to airports. There is a train that runs right through town. Many students take the train home for longer breaks. There are not taxi services in Huntingdon but again they are not necessary. Everything on and around campus is within walking distance.

nice to have a car, but you don't necessarily need one

Since Juniata is a small school in a small town, there is no public transportation around town or on campus. Everything is within walking distance, and it's usually easy to find a car to borrow should you need to go shopping or further away. It can be a hassle to fly in though because you need to fly into the state college airport and take a taxi.

Transportation

Unless you want to go to state college on some random weekend (that the Office of Student Activities picks) on a bus (pretty decent price) there aren't many more options. Basically if you want to go anywhere you have a car, or a friend who has one.
