Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

The intensity of campus strictness isn’t too unreasonable, mostly because student behavior isn’t either. For on-campus residents, drug and alcohol consumption is probably the most tightly regulated transgression, but even this is only monitored with casual attention. Most RAs are of the live-and-let-ingest mentality, provided you’re doing whatever you’re doing behind a closed door and keeping it down to a dull roar. The police are summoned only as a last resort, but students should beware—particularly if they’re in the habit of mutilating ceiling tiles under the influence.

In lieu of any major offenses to occupy their time, the authorities devote themselves to enforcing minor policies with puritanical zeal. Males visiting any all-female hall on campus should be prepared to produce a resident escort upon arrival. Students given to parking illegally should not be surprised to find a hefty ticket awaiting them on their front hood. Off-campus law enforcement is another page from the same story; because Manhattan sees so little serious crime, the police make it their business to pounce on noise violations, and on this count they are inflexible. Cry if you want to, but the fact that it’s your party means squat to them.

Careful Where You Park!

Parking on campus is very crowded and if you park somewhere without the proper permit you'll get a ticket! There isn't a curfew and it's common to go out late at night. As long as you aren't drinking recklessly you probably won't get caught or get in trouble. Just make smart decisions.

People Care

The police are really strict about underage drinking and speeding. Also the police are really good at catching drivers texting as it is against the law here.
