College Prowler Take
Nightlife at K-State is virtually synonymous with alcohol. Once the sun sets on Manhattan, two major hubs of activity emerge. The first is the bar scene, which is not so much a scene as a nightly five-act drama beginning at 10 p.m. and ending at 2 a.m.. The second, house and fraternity parties, draws a slightly younger crowd. Both the bar district and a fair number of house parties are within walking distance of campus, though you’d have to be pretty soused to consider sallying forth without a car in mid-January. Socially pervasive as alcohol is, its prominence doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy an evening without it. It’s simply a matter of keeping your eyes and mind open at all times. Last year, McCain Auditorium played host to the National Acrobats of Taiwan, whose collective juggling skills the most dexterous frat boy would hardly hold a candle to. The college’s theater department has a similar habit of turning out memorable shows. Also worth noting is the Union Program Council’s weekly film series. Despite the occasional fumble, it supplies a steady source of worthwhile entertainment.

Night Life
B
Night life isn't so much fun, but you have to think most students that go here have to work extremly hard at there school work. Night life would distract you dramticly.

The only thing about parties in...
The only thing about parties in Manhattan is that the cops like to destroy everyone’s fun. It is very common for a party with 200-plus people to get busted, and even ones smaller than that are targeted. International student parties are the best. Even if you don’t speak another language, they are extremely fun and very inviting but usually BYOB. |

There are a lot of fraternity parties, but they do not dominate the party scene. There are a lot of house parties where you can get drinks from a keg for $5, and there is also Aggieville, the bar district, that is right across the street from campus. Smoking is still allowed in all clubs and bars, so that is a drawback, but for the most part all of the bars have a good atmosphere and great drink specials. |

With a no-alcohol policy in the dorms, parties generally aren’t actually on campus, but there’s always something going on at various frats on the weekends. |

Rock-a-Belly Deli is my favorite...
Rock-a-Belly Deli is my favorite bar to visit when I go out on the town. The atmosphere is fun, friendly, and welcoming. I also like visiting So Long Saloon a lot if I’m in the mood for a good beer. Fat’s and Kite’s are also fun to go to occasionally. |

Unless you prefix this section heading with a “country,” you’re out of luck.
Organization Parties
Occasionally a student organization extends an invitation across the board—probably the best example here is the Progressive Alliance’s annual costume party—but even these events are advertised primarily through the group’s listserv, and the publicity efforts are marginal. Unless you happen to be a member of the group in question, you’re better off hitting up frats and house parties.

What to Do if You're Not 21
A bowling alley complete with a full-time karaoke bar, Zuckey’s is popular party turf with the university Greeks. As knockout as some of the drink specials are—the Monday night 16 oz. dollar drafts in particular—they’re by no means imperative to enjoying yourself here. Zuckey Bowl 515 Richards Dr. (785) 539-0371
Aside from the occasional theatrical production (often featuring KSU students and faculty), MAC presents a number of annual, often jazz-centric concert series.
