Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Without a car, bike, or motorcycle, your transportation options boil down to multi-mile treks or habitual mooching. KSU does run a University shuttle, but due to the restriction of its route, it’s about as popular as expository writing. Once you venture beyond the borders of the University, the possibilities shrink even further. Unlike its namesake, Manhattan is not a city of sufficient size to merit a bus system, and the only subways in business here are those offering the option of extra onions.

It generally takes some time before the importance of personal transportation makes itself felt. Campus is walkable, and between Quik Cats and Dara’s, you can find all the Pop Tarts you need to survive your first semester. The more time goes by, however, the more acute the breakout urge becomes. To be constantly cadging rides from friends gets to be a nuisance (not to mention an imposition), and walks to Aggieville no longer qualify as scenic after the twelfth trip. If a move off campus is in the plans, a car becomes nothing less than a necessity. Even if you score an apartment within walking distance of campus, buying groceries and bringing home cute freshmen will require a set of dependable wheels. The moral of the story: Without a car, you won’t get far. Trite but true.

Cars Are Handy but Not Necessary.

It's convenient to have a car but not necessary. You can walk anywhere on campus and there's a lot to do in Aggieville which is also in walking distance. To go shopping you'd need a ride, but people are nice about helping each other out with rides. I recommend bringing a bicycle. Our campus also has a safe ride system if you need a ride home on the weekends.

Lots of Options

Campus is conveniently located and designed, making it easy to walk or bike wherever you need to go. There is also a bus that makes a few rounds, but doesn't seem to be used often.

Shuttles Are Good Alternative

There is a lot of campus parking, but spots fill up quickly. We recently had a parking garage built, and this created more space. There is also a shuttle that runs from the middle of campus to other areas of town such as apartment complexes that make it easier for kids to go back and forth freely if they do not have transportation.
