There are a lot of classes ranging from 7 am early morning classes to 8 pm night classes. They even have summer classes. Although they have a range of classes some classes dont work well with others. If you wanted to take a certain Biology class, for example, and a Immunology class , that both go for the degree you want, they would collide schedules.

The Health Career Center was extremely helpful. They will always advocate the student no matter what. He knew what he was talking about. He also knew how classes would work out with other schools in order to get the type of degree I wanted.

Tuition & Financial Aid:
They people working at the financial aid office were really friendly and helpful. If they didnt know some information they would always ask someone else or look it up right away.

Other online classes I have taken were very fast paced and there was little compassion from the instructors in turning in late assignments or allowing make-up work. I have been able to keep up with the online courses at Kapiolani Community College so far, and the instructors have been very understanding to any concerns you have and try to be as fair as possible regarding turning in late assignments or completing make-up work. My experience with online courses at Kapiolani Community College has been a very pleasant one and manageable.

I really appreciate the thoughtfulness and understanding of the instructors/professors at this school and did not really have this at previous colleges that I attended.

They have programs or internships you can join within your major. It's very convienent and it works around your schedule since they know you are in school.

Tuition & Financial Aid:
They do what they can, but they can't help with everything without the information they need. They always want you to feel comfortable though.

Once you go the hang of it, the online courses easier. Knowing the website and gaining information with instructors and "how-to" makes you a responsible student

I haven't experienced yet the full academic aspects because i am part-time at the moment. Once I have entered the program, i will probably have the effect of this institute.

They have expanded different types of course tutoring now! Haven't had that when I enrolled back in 2011

I rarely go on campus because my courses are on line. But when I do, the campus is neat but their bathrooms could do a little more work. Other than that, the staff are nice and helpful.

I fell in love with this campus the moment I set my eyes on it. KCC is located right next to Diamond Head and has a beautiful view of Koko Head. Not only does it have a wonderful view, but an amazing group of students and teachers as well. No one will have a problem fitting in as there are students from all over the world. They even have a small "club" for International Students to join. So if you are an international student who came to KCC to study, you have come to the right place! Share your experiences with those around you and listen to other peoples' stories as well. Joining this group has definitely opened my eyes.
Not only are the students very friendly, but the teachers as well. Many of the professors are willing to help their students if they have any trouble, so don't be afraid to ask any questions.

Haven't started yet, but it seems promising. The counselors are helpful, but they do love to take there time. I guess it is island time.

It is not a big school. So the amenities are very limited. The campus itself is beautiful and not updated. But you do get the feel of Hawaii and it's culture.

Everyone seems nice, but there is definitely clicks.

The student body is very ethnically diverse and has a lot of international students. There are many like me who are returning to school after a long time, and others who are just starting straight out of high school with no gaps in their education. Because of vast cultural differences between students from different countries there can be cultural misunderstandings, but the environment makes it easy for us to work these out and become good friends.

The quality of education is high and most of the teachers are very helpful and friendly.

There are plenty of computers around campus but the ones outside of the library are slow and the wifi is even slower. Printing is also expensive at 10 cents a page
College Junior 2013-06-29T22:25:27Z
The campus is aging but they're recently renovating many of the older buildings. Bathrooms need a little more care but the grounds are beautiful with a fantastic view of the ocean and Koko crater.

As a Community College it works more towards transferring to UH Manoa than finding Jobs for its students that are not in the Culinary or EMT Program

Most of the students at Kapiolani Community College are middle class civilians who are striving towards a better education. The age range is anywhere from 18 to the age of 50 from what I can tell. There is a lot of diversity in this college and no one seems to mind. That's what I like.

Tuition & Financial Aid:
I feel the tuition at KCC culinary arts program is acceptable. It is still very affordable compared to UH and other universities. Hawaii culinary standards are so high and everywhere you go there is good food. So you really have to know your stuff if you want to make it in the food industry. Students get the opportunity to be trained by experienced chef's that work in the industry giving them real feedback and opportunities.
Applying for financial aid is simplified with a general scholarship application that accesses several different scholarships. Students are then notified via email when awarded money. Students are eligible for volunteer opportunities that count for scholarship hours = $$.

I am a senior at The Culinary Institute of the Pacific at KCC. Overall, I can say that there are reasonable hurdles that can be expected at any institution.
The culinary department boasts of the approximate 400 student body in the program. This leads to bottle neck effects for upper level students trying to complete requirements. Before I can take any upper level courses, I am stuck waiting for an opening for pre-req's.
Ease of transferring credits depends on what you want to transfer. Transfer gen ed courses are easy among the UH system. However, you cannot register for LCC culinary classes with a home record of KCC and visa versa.
College Freshman 2013-06-25T03:43:47Z
Many student that attend KCC are very nice. We also have many older students that are going back to school and some from out of country. Everyone mostly keeps to themselves, goes to class and then goes home or to work.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
