Chastain Road and Barrett Parkway

Both are within 5-10 minutes of campus and there are plenty of place to eat at. I love going to Panera to study or go to Starbucks across the street and eat at Chilito's or Firehouse Subs. Taco Mac is pretty popular also on Chastain. Barrett Parkway has a burger place called Smash Burger where you build your own burger, it's really great! There is also Copeland's which serves cajun cuisine.

Experience of Faculty Members

Being in this program is a great experience, in the first semester I attended a book presentation by one of our faculty members. It gave the class great insight in what takes place when a writer promotes his or her book.Other writers or readers will inquire about the thought and writing process of the writer, and ask questions about the topic and the goals of the writer for writing the book.

The fact that faculty members are actvie writers themselves in various genres of writing brings so much relevant experience and knowledge to the class. This is very important as I am trying to perfect my writing; I can always ask questions for any particular writing I am taking on.

Intreactions With Peers and Professors Great.

My major for my master's degree is in Professional Writing. I have an undergrad degree in journalism, so my current studies are an extension of my journalism degree. I really liked class interactions with peers and professors; it really allowed me to get feedback on ideas and having reading discussions was a great way to brainstorm and come up with new concepts.

I will use my degree to write in the business world in addition to my writing in journalism. Issues and research was a course that established method in research and different steps a writer has to take to write consistantly based on his or her audience. The History of the Essay course was very helpful in understanding essays as a genre and it helped me find my won style in essay writing.

With social media being part of the way business are communicating, a writer has to be aware and able to use the means of communication to reach his or her audience. I believe the classes I have taken will enable me to be a writer in tune with the times and audiences.
