Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Chances are, if you’re going to get caught doing something you shouldn’t on campus, it’s going to be your RA or a member of the campus security staff who catches you, not the Kent State University Police Department. KSU Police are more interested in stopping drunk drivers and people who are creating public disturbances than they are in a few kids who are a bit tipsy walking down Main Street. As long as you aren’t bothering people, you probably won’t be stopped.

If you want to drink with some of your friends in your dorm room, you shouldn’t have a problem. If you’re loud to the point of disturbing your neighbors, you’ll probably have to deal with security. Otherwise, everyone’s pretty mellow. If you stay away from the rowdiness—loud frat and house parties—you really don’t have anything to worry about. If you get trashed, can barely walk back to your dorm, and are stumbling in the streets, expect to get picked up for public intoxication and/or underage drinking.

20 Feet Means 2 Inches

The big thing I have noticed is that the rule that states you must be 20 feet from any building in order to smoke is not enforced at all. Marijuana and alcohol consumption is said to not be tolerated, but you will see that many people tolerate it like it's no big deal. Noise levels in the dorms, depending on the hall, are rarely, if ever, enforced.

Normal

Kent State Tusc. is just as strict at school policies as any other university should. Smoking areas are marked by pavilions and students and professors may only smoke there!Cheating is not tolerated and respect is always a must. The school is forceful for a reason but not unreasonable!
