Technology permeates most areas of campus life, so having ready access to a computer is undoubtedly necessary. Professors utilize online quizzes and homework for classes, and most branches of the University communicate with students primarily through email. Computer labs are readily available (with both Macs and PCs), and the University does a fairly good job of keeping them updated, but having your own computer is the most desirable and practical way to go.

Students' most prominent gripe with campus technology is that the University printers are not free. While the per-sheet cost is not expensive in itself (7 cents for black and white), students' complaints are based on principle more than anything else. After a recent upgrade, most of the University has access to the wireless network, though it functions better in some places than in others. Despite spotty connections in certain places, however, the expanded accessibility is appreciated by students. Though Kent State is not the most high-tech school, its computer resources and tech support are more than adequate for student needs, especially considering that most will opt to bring their own computer.
