Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Greek life at Kent State is not overbearing as it is at some universities, and most students will reassure you that "going Greek" is not a necessary or integral part of your undergraduate career. That being said, it is certainly an available and well-pursued option for those interested. Some Greeks use the experience to enhance or augment their four years with service and philanthropy, while others are clearly involved for the parties. Those involved in social fraternities or sororities make up a relatively small percent of the undergraduate population, but that number can seem higher due to their prolific involvement around campus.

Generally speaking, Greeks and non-Greeks coexist very amicably. In certain circles, a predominantly negative perception of Greek life exists, but it's best to judge Greeks individually and not collectively. As far as the many stereotypes surrounding Greek life, some hold true and some don't, but they should not be a deterrent to those who might be interested. No fraternity or sorority is perfect, and students should take time to carefully consider their options to find the best fit.

The Parties I Don't Have Time to Go and That Keep Me up

It 3 am and I can't sleep, and the reason why is because all here around is loud and drunk students. That sounded like they just came from a keg party.

I am not a sister to any sorority and I am not that involved in the Greek life, but it is popular here at KSU. I have attened some frat parties and they are all welcoming, if you are not involved with the Greek life it does not mean that you are out of the loop.
