Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

On-campus housing has the distinct advantage of convenience, but most upperclassmen will opt out of dorm life for the independence and monetary savings that come with off-campus living. There are two distinct options in Kent—housing and apartments—and plenty of both. Most of the houses available for rent are standard, lived-in college pads. Some will need more work than others, but for those wishing to move into a pristine space from day one, newer apartments will be an enticing alternative.

With some of the nicer options comes a noticeable step in price, but even the most expensive rents are most likely cheaper than University housing. For some, a high-quality living space justifies a larger price tag, but others are purely interested in holding on to as much of their hard-earned cash as possible. Most housing is within walking distance of the University, and there are apartments available that are just as close to class as some residence halls. Students generally won't have trouble finding a place, since there are so many available, but the best options go quickly, so it's best to start searching as soon as possible.

Availability

There are so many places to live off campus in Kent. Most of the off campus housing is in walking distance to the university and even you don't want to walk, there are bus services that run 24/7 to and from the campus. Houses, apartments, and town homes are abundant in Kent and it is rare that someone would have a hard time trying to find a place to live.

Off Campus Housing

There are a lot of apartments being built right now but they arent very cheap. They cost as much if not more than the Centennial dorms but they are brand new so it could be worth it

Off Campus Housing

There are a lot of apartments nearby, but they all appear to be in not the best shape. They are building new apartments, however, that seem very nice and would be a great option to live in.
