Athletics are really big at KWC. Our schools athletes all hang around campus together and a lot of them even have the same classes. They condition and exercise pretty frequently early in the mornings. The are absolutely respected around campus! :)

At KWC, I am very satisfied with the way the CIS professors conduct classes. They make sure we have plenty of power point slides and extra notes to study from. The course work is plenty busy but they provide tutors for anything that we may not understand

The professors and advisors at KWC are the best! They are always there to answer questions or help solve any problems I may have. They are always willing to help and they will make sure you succeed as their greatest task.

Zoology. Very competitive but interesting and more specialized than other majors.

Registration process was easy, curriculum is pretty good, they have some unique study options.

Small selection of majors but they do have a few more interesting ones that other schools don't offer.

Health & Safety:
We always have security on campus. Luckily, they are not called on often because it is a same city with little crime. I have never felt unsafe at night on campus but if I did I could go to security for help.

It is college, so alcohol and some drugs are there. However, the school does a good job of keeping it off of our dry campus. It is hardly noticeable unless you're looking specifically for it.

Wesleyan has a gorgeous campus and is nestled right in the middle of the town, it's easy to get there from anywhere!

Health & Safety:
I feel relatively safe here. My only problem is the campus is very open and people can come and walk their dogs or ride their bike here.

The school is very accepting on different kinds of students. We have some from China, Australia, Russia, etc and they are all treated with respect!

In the Library there are two computer labs with printers in both. In the Science and Academic buildings there are computer labs will printers also. Printing on campus is easy but not always reliable. Some of the computers do not print but others do, build into the tuition is enough money for 100 pages to print at 4 cents a page. Network is not the best but normally you can get on it with a laptop and the speed is bad. There is no need for a personal printer because if you need to print just go to the Library. A personal computer there is a great need for unless you want to have to go to the library for every paper you have to write

There are many different minorities and different backgrounds There is not any problems between races and there are many African Americans on campus. There is always international students on campus from Australia and China. There are people of different religion, political and economic backgrounds and many openly gays on campus. With no problems

Very Easy to Get Help – KWC is a small, intimate campus. You get to know the professors in your department very quickly. They are always willing to help and the PLUS center has an entire staff of tutors for almost every class and every professor available.

I've only eaten in the dining hall once, but it was so disgusting, I'll never eat there again. When we had our Oak & Ivy ceremony, which is a very prestigious honor for our seniors, the dining hall staff catered and it was horrible. If that's their FANCY food, I'd hate to see their every day food! Subco is alright, just a simple sandwich station. Jazzman's is my favorite coffee shop. I'd pick them over Starbucks any day. Their hours suck though.

Plenty of Choices – KWC is right off Frederica, which is basically the main drag of Owensboro. There are plenty of choices there, and if you get sick of those, you can take the by-pass out to Hwy 54 for even more choices. I hardly ever eat on campus.

Not the Greatest, but Not Horrendous. The freshman dorms (Peeples for the girls, and Kendall for the boys) are typical, sucky college dorms. If you're in a fraternity or a sorority, Deacon is a great place to live with your brothers/sisters and all the other Greek students. (We don't have houses, we all share one dorm. There are only three fraternities and three sororities.) Massie is a suite-style dorm and is the newest. Very nice, but very pricey. Stadium is apartment-style, with a living area, two private rooms, one double room, and a full bathroom (complete with a bath tub). It's kind of in the back, but if you don't like being in the middle of everything all the time or you have a lot of classes in the Arts/Communications building, it's the best.

Original Major Was Terrible, Much Happier Now. When I first came to KWC, I came for their "Music Industry" major. I quickly learned that the degree covered a lot more "Music" and a lot less "Industry". I quickly switched my major to Business Administration and chose to concentrate in Marketing Management. I kept my minor as Music. I absolutely love music. It's my life. I want to be around it, but I'm realistic enough to know that I'm most likely not going to be a famous singer or performer. Having a business degree will prepare me more for the real world, whether I end up working in the music business or in another industry.

Mostly White, but Not Too Much So. A majority of students are white, but it is not such a huge difference that minority students feel uncomfortable or overpowered. We're also a small enough school that everyone gets to know each other pretty easily, especially within your major or department.
College Junior 2012-09-04T19:30:02Z
We're a tiny school, so you can park anywhere and have a good parking spot. I often just walk to class when the weather is nice to save gas and get some exercise. The only bad parking is when there is a little league game at the baseball/softball fields behind the Arts/Communications building and Stadium dorm. Then all the parking fills up with non-students and students have nowhere to park... Worst part about that is that no one enforces the "Student Parking Only" sign or directs anyone to the event parking area.

Too Hard to Live Off Camus! There are plenty of great, affordable off-campus options but KWC makes it way to hard to live off-campus! They have a hundred and one rules about who can live off campus and some of them are just too much.
College Junior 2012-09-04T19:23:50Z
The college has a dry campus policy and those in charge of enforcing it can sometimes take it too far. I recently witnessed an entire group of students written up and assigned service hours for "having alcohol" because the RD saw them carrying a cooler (which was full of Coca-Cola, no alcohol). One student, who lived in the room the cooler was brought into but was not present at the time of the incident, was written up as well. Most of the time, if you're not causing trouble or harm, they won't say anything, but occasionally, they like to create trouble where it doesn't exist and pin it on students.
College Junior 2012-09-04T19:16:37Z
No One Uses Them. We have plenty of computers to use around campus, mostly PCs, and a (dated) Mac lab in the arts/communications building, but pretty much everyone has their own laptop. WiFi is kind of slow, but most of the time, you don't have much trouble with it.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
