Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

While parking spots are plentiful, Kenyon tries to discourage cars on campus by providing inconvenient locations to park. The main lots are located down the hill by the athletic center, making the drive to class all but impossible. Seniors who sign up for permits early have a shot at the coveted spots at the top of the hill near dorms, but these require planning ahead and sending in the permit requests early. Kenyon security patrols frequently and tickets those who park outside of their designated "zone."

It is not difficult to obtain a parking space on campus, and freshmen often bring their own vehicles. This anomaly means that there is often someone on every freshman hall with a car, not always the case with other schools. In reality, there is no need for a car on Kenyon's campus since it is so small. However, parking is available for those who desire it.

The Dixie Lot Is Far Away

Due to campus wide construction, parking (though it is not limited) can be far away from student residences. All north campus parking is reserved for juniors and seniors leaving under class students to park in lots located in the far away south lot of Kenyon. If you're truly unlucky you may have to park in the deep south lot (hence: Dixie Lot) and make the long treck back to your dorm. All first years may bring cars, though!

Parking Far, Far, Far Away

They say that we are a walking campus, so far away parking should not be a problem. That being said, parking sports are few if you want to be close. Often you will park next to the KAC with a long walk back to your room.

No Car? No Problem.

If you are bringing a car to campus be prepared to be popular as you will be sharing your spunky little red convertible with all your friends (and some that aren't). Parking is very expensive - 250 buckaroos per semester, a waste of money depending on how many joy rides to Wal-Mart you are going to want to take. But there is a shuttle, running back and forth from Mt. Vernon to Gambier every hour on the hour. Fred is very nice.
