Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Kenyon’s tight-knit community ensures that once you’re here, you never want to leave. There’s plenty to do at night and on the weekends, so there is little need to leave campus. With that being said, getting out of Kenyon once in a while can be a wonderful thing. Having a meal that includes nuts, and shopping for something that doesn’t have “KENYON” emblazoned on it can be refreshing. In terms of leaving campus, someone you know will undoubtedly have a car and be willing to tag along on your adventure. Not everyone on campus owns a car, but enough do that it usually isn’t a problem.

There’s a shuttle service run by the College that goes into Mount Vernon on Monday, Friday, and Saturday nights. The shuttle goes around to everywhere you could ever need/want to go: Walmart, CVS, the video store, Fiesta Mexicana, and the movie theater. On the off chance you want to go somewhere else, the bus driver is usually obliging. Getting to the airport over break is the only hitch. Two services offer shuttle rides, but they can be pricey and leave at inconvenient times. Your best bet is to find a friend who is driving there at the same time you need to go.

Easy Travels

Some dorms can be a little bit of a walk but if you have a bike its very easy. Walking is easiest and the campus is very walkable. Also, if you are out late at night and for some reason your legs arent functioning efficiently, there are safe rides run by students which pick you up anywhere with a simple phone call. Also, if you call security and ask them to bring you back to your dorm, they will without you getting in trouble, no matter what level of intoxication you might be at.

Hope You Get the Shuttle or Ya Better Make a Friend

Shuttles to the airport and Mt. Vernon are about the only forms of public transportation. Otherwise you better find a friend with a car.

Really Rural

Just wish there were a cheaper and more convenient way to get to Columbus on weekends and especially during the holiday season!
