I am not really informed when it comes to the topic of off-campus housing because I am not interested in, but I do know that you can ask people, and they will give you information.

When it comes to diversity, the majority is white. However, I do see that it is diverse, and that they are trying to make it more diverse. Since I have been here, I have met people from different cultures, and it is so interesting learning about them as well. Also, the campus has different ethnicity houses such as the international house, Casa Latina, Harambee, and Asian house, etc. Due to the multiple houses that there is, it is easy to learn about a culture and feel like a part of the community. I have not seen discrimination when it comes to race, and that is something that I really do like. The campus isn't only welcoming to diversity, but it is also welcoming people who like people from the same sex. I also think that this is another good aspect of the college. Knox to me has portrayed to me as a community who welcomes you for who you are and doesn't judge you, something that it is very difficult to find.

Well, I am from Chicago, so the weather is similar to what I am used to it. I understand that there are some cold days, and then there are days that are really nice. The local weather doesn't really affect my campus experience because I still go to the campus events because it's a small campus, so I don't need to walk a lot through the coldness to get to somewhere.

It was good. The admission counselor helped me a lot.

Galesburg is a unique city and has its own quirks and charms. It is a little run down but if you look in the right places you can find some real gems. There are antique malls, thrift stores, and restaurants.

Guys & Girls:
Everyone at Knox is unique and encouraged to be themselves. There is no "standard Knox student." Everybody is interested and involved in a variety of things, from fencing and sculpture to dance and athletics.

Health & Safety:
I have never felt unsafe on campus. Campus safetly is always there to walk students home if they feel unsafe, although I have never used that option. The campus is small so if you're walking home late at night you never have far to go.

There are a few off-campus houses and apartments and they are reasonably priced. The majority of students, however, live on campus all four years.

The school provides shuttles to and from local airports at the start and end of each term. There is also the Amtrak station within walking distance and multiple trains a day go to Chicago. There are also taxis and a public bus system if students need to get somewhere in Galesburg.

Knox has a lot of computers for student to use both in the math and science building as well as a 24 hour lab in the student union that has both Macs and PCs and make it easy and available for students to not have computer. That being said most student do have a computer, but most do not have a printer. Students get 300 free printing pages a term.

Galesburg has a variety of dining options, some within walking distance of campus. There are a handful of places that deliver to campus as well. There are a lot of chain restaurants but also a great variety of local places for students to discover.

I was not in need of financial ad from Knox itself. I therefore have no opinion on the matter.

There are a variety of ways to be involved in athletics at Knox. You can be involved in Varsity, club, or intermural sports. Athletes take their sports seriously and their friends come to support them at events.

Because Knox has such a community aspect to it, off campus living is discouraged. The way it is decided is by a lottery system and then the "winner" still has to find a house/apartment in walking location. That is not very hard to do as there is a lot of housing near campus, and some landlord rent exclusively to Knox students. However I personally feel safer on campus than off it.

Students are guaranteed housing for all four years and there is a variety of on campus housing. First years live in suite style dorms and can form close bond with their first year suitemates. There are also townhouses and apartments for upperclassmen. Themed housing, such as Jazz House, Eco House, and Casa Latina are available and every year students have the option to get together with their friends and apply for their very own themed house.

Student life is very vibrant on campus. There is always something to do such as going to a sporting event, participating in community service, or catching an improv show. We also have cooky traditions like pump handle where we the hand of everybody on campus, so you can literally meet everybody at Knox!
College Sophomore 2013-10-04T19:06:58Z
The community at Knox is amazing! This goes beyond the friend group to each person on campus, they all love Knox, and are warm and welcoming. They are there to learn and discuss in a vibrant environment. The people really make the school! Additionally the academics are a bit challenging but very stimulating and I've definitely seen my self grow academically.

Parking on campus is easy. Any student can get a parking permit for free and the process takes a few minutes. There are parking lots around campus as well as street parking. You don't need to have a car on campus but it is convenient if you want to go to Target, Walmart, or the movie theater. Off-campus dining options and the Amtrak station are within walking distance.
College Sophomore 2013-09-22T20:20:03Z
Usually the most nightlife that happens is on the weekend and I feel very safe around this campus late at night. Campus security is very quick and will help with anything. There are large registered parties at the frat houses with campus ID and no alcohol, but other student will sometimes have some fun in residences as well.
College Sophomore 2013-09-22T20:16:02Z
There are buses that run regularly and there is also a shuttle to take you anywhere at an extremely low cost like $2 per person
College Sophomore 2013-09-22T20:14:22Z
You do have to pay for a sticker to park in the lots, but there is still plenty of parking around the campus residences. This is probably because it's a small campus in a small town so not many student bring cars.
College Sophomore 2013-09-22T20:12:10Z
Everything was handled very well. My parents did do most of the work for me, but I never saw them stress about it.
College Sophomore 2013-09-22T20:08:17Z
There are so many options in the Hard Knox Cafe that you can practically make your own recipes. There's a lot of quick options for people on the go too. I also love the meal plan and flex dollars. It's so easy to add or change.
College Junior 2013-08-27T01:33:27Z
The chemistry department is very strong and there are several equipment available at Knox which shouldn't considering the size of the school. The professors are friendly and supportive.
