Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Okay, so it’s true—La Roche College isn’t exactly No. 1 on the list of top party schools. In fact, it’s not even in the top 100. But that’s alright because there are many clubs, bars, and other venues in Pittsburgh to keep college students from every age group and walk of life busy. For avid partygoers, there are plenty of clubs, such as Matrix and DejAVu Lounge. For the more laid-back drinkers, there are many smaller bars and pubs with less club-like atmospheres. For the underage or nondrinkers, there are coffeehouses and hookah bars. Most clubs in Pittsburgh are for people 21 and older. On occasion, certain clubs will hold 18-andover nights, but that is rare. The main under-21 club in the Pittsburgh area is Club Zoo, but it is overrun by 14- and 15- year-olds, making it less appealing for the average college student. The main drawback is that these places are in the heart of Pittsburgh or some other place not within walking distance of the La Roche campus.

Nightlife here is basically what you make of it. If you think everything is completely lame and refuse to do any searching before giving up on the hope of having fun, then chances are you won’t have a good time. However, if you get into the spirit of things and go out and search for a good time, you will have tons of fun!

I can’t get into many events because I’m not 21. I go out to the movies. Go to Squirrel Hill or Loews Theaters. The one five minutes away isn’t great. Use that theater as a last resort.
