Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Craving pancakes? How about fettuccine alfredo? Salad? Fast food? Whatever your dish of choice, the Pittsburgh area offers it! There are many great dining opportunities near La Roche College, including a wide range of chain restaurants, such as Olive Garden, T.G.I. Friday’s, Eat ‘n Park, Denny’s, Wendy’s, and McDonald’s. If you’re in the mood for Mexican, there are plenty of places nearby— Mad Mex and El Campesino are two favorites. Students willing to travel from the quiet setting of La Roche into downtown Pittsburgh will find an even wider range of ethnic and exotic foods, including Indian, Syrian, Greek, Japanese, and Arab.

The biggest drawback to off-campus dining is the College’s suburban setting and lack of public transportation, which
means that to get to a restaurant, students must either have their own car or befriend someone with one. The only
restaurant that students are able to walk to safely is North Park Lounge Restaurant, which is directly across the street
from campus. Walking on the roads that lead to other area restaurants is not only illegal but very risky due to the
high volume of traffic. But, once a student finds a way to get off campus, there are places that are cheap, expensive,
and in between for people in all financial situations.

Off-Campus Dining at La Roche College

It's Pittsburgh.

LRC is located about twenty five / thirty minutes from downtown Pittsburgh - so off campus dining is not limited. And not only are we a short distance away from downtown, McKnight road is also the closest main road to La Roche, and has many options including Chipotle, chinese food, indian cuisine, Sonic, and a wide variety of Eat 'n Parks. There isn't a student discount for just LRC students, but a couple places have college discounts where you need only show your student ID. Some of the best places to go downtown are places you've never heard of, so it's best to check things out for yourself! Accessibility could be an issue if you don't have a car, but friends usually carpool.

There are lots of really great places to eat around La Roche. It also is not too far from downtown Pittsburgh where there is always great nightlife, too.
