Pittsburgh’s transit authority has been having financial problems for years now, and due to budget cuts and the rising price of gasoline, public transportation is scarce in outlying areas. There are buses that run by the La Roche campus, but they seem to be sporadic and unreliable. Taxi service is available in the city, but the average rate is too expensive for college students to afford on a regular basis. There are no subways near the College, and the one in Pittsburgh only runs through the very heart of the city and into the South Hills. Walking is usually out of the question as well due to the high volume of traffic near campus. Most roads have signs that say no pedestrians, and if you choose to go against that, you can be arrested. The best way to get from place to place while living at La Roche is to have your own car or know someone who does.
Greyhound is the most cost-efficient way to get out of the city. With a rather large station, it isn’t hard to find the bus you need to get you where you need to go. Amtrak is also rather cost-effective, but travel time is longer than Greyhound. Flying is expensive, but it is the quickest way to get from Pittsburgh to anywhere else. All in all, the transportation near La Roche is not reliable unless you provide your own.

Limited Options
The best way to get around is to have a car. There is the public bus. Once a week the campus offers van trips for shopping or eating but you need to sign up in advance.
