Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

The Lafayette campus is well-equipped to handle the student body’s computer needs. Skillman Library, which is open seven days a week, has two computer labs: a Mac lab and a PC lab. The work stations have ample room, and printers are located conveniently nearby. In addition, both Macs and PCs can be checked out from the circulation desk if students so desire. Printing throughout campus is free, and several of the academic buildings have smaller computer labs. Pardee Hall, for example, has one on the first floor. The basement of Marquis Hall has another, open 24 hours. Typically, the computer labs in Skillman Library and the Marquis basement get somewhat crowded after nightfall and during midterms/finals week. Otherwise, access is readily available.

Most students bring laptops to campus. All common areas, like laundry rooms and common rooms, have electric outlets. Printing, faxing, scanning, and copying facilities are available in the Skillman Library for a nominal fee. The IT department operates out of Skillman from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays. The basement of Pardee Hall has a branch of the IT department that deals with hardware issues. The staff is typically helpful and cooperative.

Mac Lab

There's nothing better than working in the Mac Lab at Skillman. A 20 inch screen makes it easy to see all my work. Plus, it is quiet and cozy and makes writing papers more enjoyable.
