Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Because Lafayette's campus has a strong policy on underage drinking, a lot of freshmen and sophomores cannot frequent the bars and clubs in and around the Easton area. However, on-campus nighttime activities are not lacking. Campus-sponsored events take place almost any given week. The Lafayette Activities Forum (LAF) frequently sponsors events, inviting stand-up comedians to perform in Lower Farinon and guest speakers to deliver lectures (admission being free). Students also have the option of going to theater and/or musical events, performed by both outside groups and student organizations.

On the weekends, students can usually find a couple of parties on campus. Some of these events can be exclusive, while others are open to students of all years. Usually the sports teams and Greek life host these parties, and it is not uncommon for students to follow up with “after parties” of their own. Despite the administration’s strong stance on underage drinking, most students do not have a hard time procuring alcohol. The College also has a "Good Samaritan" policy, where students can report friends and peers who they believe are in trouble without the fear of repercussions. Students who live in wellness (also known as “substance-free”) dorms and/or do not prefer to attend rowdy social events can do things on their own, like organize movie nights. Resident advisers also plan weeknight events throughout the week, so there usually isn’t a dearth of things to do around campus.

There Is Not Much to Do

There is really no nightlife at Lafayette except for the stuff the Frats and Sororities throw. Besides this, you can go to campus pizza but that's about it.

Always Something to Do

On weekends at Lafayette, there are always parties that both freshman and upperclassmen can go to. The parties are very fun, and range from sports houses to frats. During the week, parties can be harder to find but there is generally always something going on and it is easy to find people to drink with. Also if you have a fake, it is easy to get into the bars which is always fun.

Nonexistent

The school is incredibly strict. The only fun and redeeming part of the school is its Greek life, which the administrations is trying to get rid of. The school is making a big mistake. Students who wish to drink will have to do so in their dorms. Its not safe and will lead to more alcohol related incidents.

Facts

Bar Prowler

There are only a few bars that Lafayette students frequent when they are ready to party. They are all off campus, but most are within walking distance.

Organization Parties

Fraternities and sororities are known to rent out areas on and off campus to throw their own formals or date parties. Campus Pizza is usually shut down until midnight for a private affair at least twice a month. Other organizations throw random, nonalcoholic parties on campus in Farinon, as well, and dance parties in the atrium are also common.

Mother’s Bar & Grille

Mother’s is packed with Lafayette students and Easton townies alike. Mother’s is most popular on Wednesday nights for karaoke, when almost all juniors and seniors are down in the circle. On those nights, the place is packed to capacity, and getting a drink is relatively difficult. On weekend nights, there are guest DJs, and the dance floor in the back is hopping. The College even provides a free bus/van service down to the circle beginning at 10 p.m. on weekend nights.

Drinky Drinkerson’s

Formerly known as Bar 5, Drinky Drinkerson’s location is perfect for students to switch up their routine and try something different than Mother’s. The bar is always crowded, and drinks are somewhat expensive; it is always really dark and really smoky in Drinky Drinkerson’s, and the dance floor is always busy. Lafayette students tend to frequent the club on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays.

Campus Pizza House

There are always fraternities or sororities renting out Campus Pizza for private parties, but when it is open to the public, there is almost no problem for a student to get in, although you do have to show an ID. The beer is cheap, and the place is packed and smoky.

College Hill Tavern

CHT, as it’s affectionately known, has done less business recently than in past years because of its location. It is a little bit of a walk, and students tend to stay within a one-mile radius of campus so they can get back to their dorm room safely. CHT is always quiet, and drink specials are available.

The Spot

The Spot is Lafayette's on-campus nightclub, featuring a dance floor, game rooms, a bar area with a big-screen TV, and a kitchen that serves free food.

Fraternity parties

Go to a fraternity party—there are only a few bars and clubs in the area, and they are all relatively strict with partying. Lafayette also sponsors a number of weekend events for those who don’t, or can’t, drink, including comedians and movies.
