Overall ExperienceWhat's This?

Having a productive college experience on Lafayette's campus means that the students have to learn to get involved. Starting from the first week of class freshman year through the last days of Senior Week, Lafayette students have to learn to balance their academics with their social lives, jobs, and extracurricular activities. Nothing quite comes easy—almost everyone has to start from scratch, find a niche, build up a circle of friends, and pick and choose courses until they decide on a major. But the experience is wildly rewarding. While on campus, students get the opportunity to foster meaningful relationships with a plethora of people. Friends and floormates, co-workers and team members, professors and administrative staff—there are many connections to be made and sustained, many moments to cherish.

While in school, Lafayette students might complain about the workload. The pressure to maintain grades while still being active in different clubs, sports teams, and/or organizations can be daunting at times. There are expectations to be met. Obstacles can come in the form of a challenging curriculum, failing relationships, and demanding professors. In spite of these challenges—or maybe because of them—Lafayette students learn to be well-adjusted, well-spoken, savvy young men and women by the time they graduate. Students leave campus knowing that they picked a place that challenged them intellectually and shaped them socially. At their five-year, 20-year, or 50-year reunion parties, Lafayette students will find familiar faces and relish memories.

Surprised

I like my friend group but the school is centered around greek life and parties. So it's hard to ignore that scene.

I Have Really Enjoyed Lafayette

I am from Texas, and at first was hesitant to go to school so far away. But I have loved every moment at Lafayette. It is very easy to get involved and meet people and the social scene is very underrated. The academics are challenging, but very rewarding.

Diversity on Campus

I feel that there isn't that much diversity on this campus. When I walk through the quad I don't see people of different colors. Sometimes I am the only Latino in class and it makes me feel like I don't really belong there. Posse is one of the biggest groups on campus that brings diversity aside from International Students. But, if we take those two groups outside Lafayette, Posse and International Students, we would probably have less than 5% of diversity on campus. I feel that Lafayette is not doing enough to have more diversity on campus. Easton is very diverse but when you come to Lafayette there isn't a lot. Maybe is the really high tuition or maybe Lafayette is not attracting minorities.
