Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Academically speaking, Lake-Sumter has its ups and downs. The quality of the professors and the work that they assign are definitely "ups." All of the professors at LSCC have great professional experience in the subjects they teach and are available outside of class for office hours. Workloads are generally manageable while still challenging students to improve and prepare for their future. The new school-wide email system, known as LakerMail, is another plus. It is very easy to communicate with peers and professors using this system.

However, one of the "downs" of Lake-Sumter is the academic advice. Students must use their best judgement when listening to advisers, and most students must be somewhat independent when it comes to setting class schedules and fulfilling requirements. Only certain advisers take the time to explain in detail what a student can expect from each course and whether or not it is appropriate for their selected major. After sufficient experience with various advisers, students will eventually know who to go talk to and who to avoid.
