College Prowler Take

When things get a little rowdy on campus, security writes students up, and then they await a hearing from the infamous J-Board. The J-Board is a student-run judicial board that works to spread knowledge and enforcement of the school social code. Giving students the duty of punishing their own peers places a heavier weight on student responsibility on all sides. Made up of half faculty and half students, the Honor Council is another prominent organization on campus that enforces the honor code. To break the honor code is one of the deadliest sins a student can commit, and it can lead to expulsion. Both codes are taken seriously on campus since they are contingent on student integrity. This is a very unique quality that many colleges lack. Because the two major forces of strictness rely on students, the environment remains understanding and compassionate. When students get in trouble, it is no surprise because they most likely deserved it. The campus is strict in that the social and honor codes are exercised without excuse, but the student body respects them because they are fair and reasonable.

Campus police really aren’t that strict. They will occasionally break up a party, but no one really gets in trouble unless something really insane happens. I think the J-Board and Honor Council are a little strict, but I also think they only really see cases that truly deserve to be there.

Campus security does a very good job of keeping the students safe. They have a good reputation on campus, and the students trust their judgment a majority of the time. Their main priority is to make sure things do not get out of hand, not to bust students for drinking under age.

Drinking is a very common thing. Campus security kind of looks the other way unless you are in danger or are endangering someone else.

Well, RLAs, RHDs, and security are supposed to rip the alcohol and drugs from our hands and write us up. But if you keep it safe and concealed, everyone’s pretty cool about it. As long as you’re not disturbing or hurting yourself or anyone else, then it’s cool.

They seem to try to prevent drinking and underage drinking, and I hear that security eventually breaks up parties that involve alcohol with minors, but in my opinion they are not too strict about drinking.
