Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Without a car, the outside world remains out of reach. The poor public transportation system prevents students from being able to explore appleton and take full advantage of what the city offers. Even something practical like getting to a grocery store, one of few necessities not available in walking distance, is difficult because public transportation does not provide service to any nearby stores. Students rely on their more privileged classmates with cars for such a service. The only useful stop on the bus is the Fox valley Mall. A car ride to the mall should take less than 10 minutes, but a ride on the city bus will prolong the travel to more than half an hour. The school is aware of the inconvenience of transportation, so it arranges school vans to take students to the mall from time to time. Public transportation is generally inconvenient and hardly used. Few even realize there is a bus stop right on campus. it is highly recommended for incoming students to find a friend with a car.

No Need for Much Transportation

Lawrence is a very campus and anyone can walk from one end to the other in less than 10 minutes. College Ave. has many great restaurants and shops and students mostly walk up and down the street. To travel further Lawrence offers free shuttles for students to the mall and grocery stores. The city of Appleton also offers buses.

Difficult to Get Places

Downtown is right next to campus, so bars, boutiques and small restaurants are really close. But if you want to go to the mall, Lawrence provides shuttles for only a small slot of time during the week. They fill up quickly so you either need to know some one with a car to get to the mall or wait a long time for the shuttle. At least the shuttle's free.

No Need for Public Transport Here!

Campus is so small that you won't need any other transportation than your own two feet! If you need to get off campus, there's a great public bus system that is always near by, but you're bound to know someone with a car who will either have to take a trip off campus too, or will most likely be willing to let you use their car.
