It is not difficult to find off-campus housing. Typically, around graduation time in the spring, there will be people looking to fill a spot in their off-campus homes. There are also plenty of homes available for rent in the spring and summer. Realtors such as Bender and Gilbert offer lists of houses, townhomes, and apartments that accommodate different incomes. Most students, however, find it too expensive to live on their own. It is easier to find a few people to live with and split the cost of rent. Prices typically range between $450 and $900 per month for a decent living space.
Cheaper places can be found on Craigslist—just make sure you know the neighborhood first. There are a few places that are not the safest in which to live. Most students will try to live in places other than East Cleveland or South Cleveland. However, many students do try to live in the Historic District. It is extremely convenient because of how close it is to campus. Most houses in that district are within a two- or 15-minute walk from school. The houses are typically older and more affordable. The neighbors are also used to having students live near them and are very friendly.
