Wifi is hard to maintain.

They are old stone buildings. Very beautiful. No AC, heat runs constantly throughout winter. You can't adjust it. Very strict. Close to parking lot and class.

If you don't drink or party, people will get mad at you and they won't like you. I personally don't drink or party and I've had numerous people talk down to me about it and talk about me because of it. I don't care though, I WILL NOT drink or party, I'm not interested.

I love my major. Its very hands on and the teachers are great. They really help me to understand what I'm learning.
College Freshman 2013-11-04T15:40:10Z
I'm not in a sorority so I don't know.
College Freshman 2013-11-04T15:39:33Z
I am still paying out the wazoo for my tuition. Financial Aid could better.
College Freshman 2013-11-04T15:37:06Z
It's great. I thoroughly enjoy it. The workload is challenging but it's worthit.
College Freshman 2013-11-04T15:36:23Z
I don't drink or party, therefore I have no idea.
College Freshman 2013-11-04T15:35:55Z
The cost was $125 for the year so I found that to be reasonable. The parking lot is right outside my dorm. Usually I can find a spot but sometimes people from other parking lots park in ours without TAGS. Security never checks our parking lot because if they did they would find a ton of people who don't have parking tags.

I live in a dorm on campus.
College Junior 2013-06-10T20:04:36Z
There is the gymnasium, the student recreation center, and another smaller workout room. The library is very spacious and quiet. There are a ton of clubs, intramural sports, and other organizations to join. Mountain Day of Service is a campus tradition that happens in the fall and spring where students clean up the campus. The school plans plenty of campus activities such as movies, study nights, etc.
College Junior 2013-06-10T19:57:26Z
There are plenty of computers available in the library. Most everyone has their own laptop but you can definitely get by without one. Sometimes the WIFI is not very reliable. There is no need for a personal printer as each student is allowed to print a numerous amount of pages per semester. I have never gone over the amount.

Guys & Girls:
Most everyone at Lees McRae is a student athlete. Those who are not are usually a performing arts student. The girls wear a lot of boots, because the weather is usually cold.
College Sophomore 2013-06-08T19:46:32Z
I don't drive, but whenever I speak with friends who drive they never complain or whine about the parking on campus and can usually find a nice parking spot if they want.
College Sophomore 2013-06-08T19:45:03Z
As long as you don't do anything absolutely insane you should be fine at this place. They are pretty lax with what you can get by with as long as you keep to yourself.
College Sophomore 2013-06-08T19:42:13Z
I received an enormous amount of financial aid from Lees-McRae and what little i didn't have they helped me greatly pay for it.
College Sophomore 2013-05-26T01:21:59Z
The diversity is large many different races and religions and everyone is accepting of everyone else. I've not seen anyone be cast out or shamed because of their personal life choices.
College Sophomore 2013-05-26T01:20:41Z
Living on campus is all up to the person. You can either have a great time or a terrible time. It all depends on if you can make your own fun or if you just want to sit alone in your dorm.
College Sophomore 2013-05-26T01:15:04Z
Unless you like to go clubbing and drinking then a good night will entail you hanging with a few friends in your dorm room or in Wilys. Other than that there isn't much to do unless you drive 30+ minutes away to have some fun.
College Junior 2013-05-13T20:49:16Z
There are only two on-campus dining options at LMC, and the dining hall is usually not that great. The other option, Wily's is good if you want a burger and a shake, but it can get old after a year or two.

Small Town Living – Banner Elk is about as small a town as you can get, but the people who live here are usually very friendly. There are not a lot of shops in Banner Elk, but there are definitely lots of outdoor opportunities and the surrounding area is beautiful.
College Junior 2013-05-13T20:45:51Z
The town of Banner Elk is a tourist town, so generally, restaurants have tourist prices. The best place in Banner Elk is Valle de Bravo. It's good, and fairly cheap. There are more options in Boone, which is about 20 minutes away.
College Junior 2013-05-13T20:43:49Z
Lees-McRae doesn't have a transportation system, but the campus is so small that you can walk anywhere in five or ten minutes, so it's not really a problem.
College Junior 2013-05-13T20:40:56Z
Security at LMC doesn't really bother you unless you give them a reason to suspect that you're doing something wrong. They don't go out of their way to catch you. The freshman girl's dorm is usually a bit more strict on the rules though. They don't allow freshman to have boys in there after midnight, but you don't usually have too bad of consequences unless you've been caught repeatedly

Pre-Professional Biology – My school has a small class size, which aids in the student/professor relationship. The teachers are knowledgeable and kind. I really love the variety of teaching styles and feel like I'm learning a lot. There are a lot of people here who have the same major as me, so I have lots of opportunities to study with other people and make friends. The workload isn't too bad.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
